Challenge of the Week: Clean-up merged profiles

Question

Hi WikiTreers,

Will you join our "Data Doctors" Challenge of the week?

This is one of the most popular and valuable challenges we do: cleaning up messy merged-together profiles.

Aleš has prepared a list of profiles from all around our shared tree that were merged but never had their biographies and sources consolidated. Click here for the list.

Click here for tips on how the biographies and sources section should look. Most importantly, all profiles should have one and only one == Biography == headline and one == Sources == section with one <references /> tag directly beneath it.

After you delete the junk and consolidate any useful biographical text and sources, set the status as corrected. That will earn you a point.

The member with the most points at 11:59pm EDT on Sunday night will get the badge and the bragging rights. But we'll all benefit from a neater, cleaner shared tree.

The Tracker is still working  - just the status reporter stopped at 17.05.2019 02:55:13 - Slovenian time

So tracker is tracking contributions only, but there is no way to get to Sourcer Challenge/Saturday Sourcing or get Status done on our DD work.

Any chance it is going to up soon?

Update: It did come back up for awhile. Seems to be down again....

Well it looks as if I've entered this week, since I was just cleaning up my own suggestions list and hit a few of this kind of error. In fact I like Data Doctor work, there are far too many sloppy profiles on the site for my liking.

Do you specify when the time period begins?  Not that it matters, but I don't find my name on the list.  I will try to complete some from your list, will check to see whether I am getting messages that these are out of line with my current geographical location or whatever.

The 2nd profile I picked off the list had already been cleaned, but not sourced (dead links kept but no sources).  I guess we are meant to mark these too.

most of them are not cleaned and have no sources other than dead links, so am taking time to source them.  Working temporarily from my distant relatives list

I'm in and working on the pre-1500 ones.  Seems like there is a neverending supply of old gedcoms with virtually nothing in them that get merged and then need both cleanup and the unsourced template.

*UPDATE: I've fixed several profiles and, for some reason, my tally is not incrementing at all in the weekly stats - and is non-existant in the Challenge stats. I am clicking the status button and updating what I've done on all the profiles.

Yes, it appears that the Tracker/Status Reporter isn't updating correctly.  And/or taking too long to load.  When this happens, I just keep going and write down name of where left off, when it starts loading again, go back and set the status' that you've done.  It's fine.  Good job!
