Searching for my mother's side of the family.

Question

After 18 years, I've decided that it's time to search my family history. With some help so far, I've managed to trace back to my grand mother, Caroline A. Gisbourne. Mum told me that we have a few Becker's in the family but the only one she can remember is Lottie (or Charlotte). I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this situation and help me out a little. thanks!

Hi Emily:

If you are just beginning your research, might I suggest you start with the census records.  US censes are available up to 1940.  Also, when you are asking for help, approximate dates and places are helpful.
