Marriage record for Luvinia B. and Samuel Pinn?

I haven't had any luck finding any marriage record via HeritageQuest or Ancestry.com Library Edition. The couple may have been married in Washington, D.C. but location is uncertain.

What I need is a confirmation that the Samuel Pinn who lived in DC (1870-1910) and married Luvinia (also Lavinia, so an inexact match would be excellent) is the child of abolitionists Elisabeth and Rev. Robert Andrew Pinn. A death certificate for Samuel Pinn would also do, or any record that could confirm the names of the parents of Virginia-born DC-based Samuel Pinn.

Pinn is also sometimes spelled Pin.

Any help appreciated! Thank you.

These are several Samuel Pinns, all born in Virginia, that I'm trying to definitively distinguish:

  • Corporal Walter Samuel Pinn, 54th Massachusetts, Co. D which includes the DC details 1870-1910 which may be a distinct person
  • Samuel Pinn who was living with the Jeffries family in Fauquier County, Virginia in 1860
  • Samuel Pinn, husband of Maria, father of William living in Lovingston, Virginia in 1870

Alas, that tells me about his kiddo (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Pinn-59), but what I need to confirm is his parents. Thank you, though! Helpful for yet another spelling of Luvinia / Lavinia / Louannia, and it's nice to finally have her birth surname so thank you for that!

I found an excerpt of a book, Full Circle: Free Persons of Color In Ante-Bellum Virginia, by Anita Baxter-Wills. It might be helpful - the author is a descendant of Robert Andrew Pinn. However, she writes in the excerpt that her knowledge did not extend prior to him. It looks as though it would flesh out the lives of Robert and some of his descendants.

Anita Wills' books are fantastic, highly recommend! Her books suggest that Samuel Pinn, the child of Elisabeth and Robert Andrew Pinn, died shortly after the war. My research may contradict that particular, but if and only if the DC-based Samuel Pinn turns out to be the child of Elisabeth and Robert Andrew Pinn.

There are several Samuel Pinns who were born in Virginia around the same time; really hoping to find a marriage or death certificate that gives parentage for DC Samuel Pinn!
(I email Anita somewhat frequently ;> )
