Could William Chapman (d. 1639, Hingham Mass.) be father of William Chapman (d. 1699, New London Conn.)?

Some online trees show William Chapman (b. 1628?; d. 1699, New London, Connecticut) as son of William Chapman b. 1585; d. 1639, Hingham, Massachusetts).  Is there any evidence that they are actually related?  This perhaps seems a bit more likely than William Chapman (d. 1699) being son of Alexander Chapman (as currently shown), but I can't find any evidence for either proposal.

Does anybody really know where William Chapman (died 1699, New London) actually came from, or are these people just making wild guesses?
