Somehow I inadvertantly created a profile. Is there anyway to undo it?

I just discovered that I created a profile (Kershner-270). I don't know how or when I did it and while I think I know who he is, I don't have the sources to prove it yet. Is there any way to undo it or do I have to just leave it until I get more information?

You added a sibling to an existing profile, so the system automatically provided them with a link.

You HAVE to leave the profile connected, but if you don't have the sources for it, someone else might.

I've edited it to add the required headers .. and the unsourced tag .. so you can leave it alone for now.  smiley

(I did the same thing not so terribly long ago and was all surprise surprise surprise WHAT DID I DO?!?!)

Of course, what I should have said was .. you have to leave him connected IF you want the sibling relationship.  Herbert is correct in that, you can disconnect the father but then you have to sue the biography text to link the brothers. It hurts nothing to have dad there.

I also unintentionally did the same thing several times when I first joined Wikitree, and it took me while to realise how I had done it, so don't feel bad

I see you have already been given lots of helpful advice, so I wish you well with your tree.
Melanie, thanks... I just popped over to this profile to swipe the Unsourced code to add to an automatically generated Unknown parent of my own!
Thank you everyone for your answers!! I didn't realize that would happen when I connected the brothers. At least now I know it wasn't my brain blanking out on something I did. Thank you for the help and suggestions!

No worries.  Always happy to help if I can (even if helping is just pointing the way to better help).  smiley

He was probably created automatically, if you created Jacob and Martin as brothers.  You can't undo it.  You can leave it until you find more info, or you can disconnect him from his sons and use the empty profile for another Kershner.

Bit Tardy, there, Herbert.  cheeky

Typing at the same time!  He does not have to stay connected, although disconnecting him will eliminate the sibling connection between Jacob and Martin.

If there's a reasonable likelihood of finding sources soon, I would leave him connected.  Otherwise, I would disconnect and recycle him, and link Jacob and Martin via their biographies.
There are 3 marriages on the profile for son Martin, but fs is showing another to a different spouse!

Also a military service for a Martin Kershner 1812-1815.
Do you mean Sarah Fox? She was Martin's 3rd wife and remarried after Martin died.
Nope.  'Twas a Susan Miller .. but she's actually attached to a Martin Kershner Jr (1743-1817), so not the one you manage.
Yes, the Kershner's tended to use the same names a lot. It makes researching them very difficult. :-)

Thanks for the star, Susan!
