WikiTree's Appreciation Team are active members who enjoy strolling through WikiTree looking for great work and letting other members know how much it's appreciated.

WikiTree prides itself on being one of the most factually sourced websites, and also one of the most friendly. We do this by encouraging others through thank yous and messages of appreciation for work done well.

If this sounds like your cup of tea, check out the task list on our project page.
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Appreciation_Team#Tasks

Then click on the answer link below this post to tell me which tasks is right for you.

Add the tag WikiTree_Love to your profile.

Then you'll get this most awesome Tree Hugger badge!

Emma, I hate to be a wet blanket, but in reading the project page, I clicked the link for "Appreciation Team Project Member List" and it displayed my badges page, with the message at the top:

Invalid Badge or User. Showing your badges.

PS  I'm not eligible to join because I am unwilling to meet the requirement of participating in a google group.

I'm not in Google Groups either.
#4 would keep me out, too.
That's weird, Gaile. The link works for me, but that may be because I have the badge. I'll look into it. Thanks!
I found the broken link you referred to Gaile. Someone put the wrong badge name in. Thanks for the heads up!! All fixed.

Love it Pip! What task would you like to take on? You can take on several, but we need you signed up for at least one.

How about the 1000 Club?
Sounds great Pip. I'll have Eowyn send the badge your way. Welcome!

Thanks, Deb. Seems like this is right up my ally!

I've taken on the Honor Code, Emma. I already work that list one day a week for Greeters, so what're a few more messages. wink Especially thank you messages! I can probably pop them out during greeting lulls.

I added my name already.

Awesome sauce! Thanks Deb :-)

Oh I would like to do this! When I first started on wikitree getting a thank you for my contributions definitely helped me not quit. I can show appreciation anywhere, I already thank people for surnames I follow. They are McGuire, Haese, Gorman, Bispham, Coppin, and Winterborne. And I can take on the Generous Genealogist Blue badge recipients too if that is helpful :)

I would love to join! Can you please add me? What a great way to show our appreciation for helping hands! I would like to take on the Surname Task. I tried to join the Google Group, but it is private and I cannot see it's content. I don't use Google with the email address tied to Wikitree, so if you add me, please send me a private message and I will respond with my gmail address.  Thank you.

I only just saw this project existed!  I am interested in joining and plan to appreciate those who add surnames for Coat, Cassidy and Britton as these are DNA name studies I am working on!
by Veronica Williams G2G6 Pilot (136k points)
Awesome, Veronica. Give us a couple of days to get you badged and added to the project. The Connect A Thon has everyone's attention at the moment.

Emma :-)
No worries, I just noticed it when doing the Connect a thon!

Thanks, Veronica. You have just received the most awesome badge on WikiTree! So very pleased to have you with us. This is a great group of people.smiley

I would consider it to be an honor be a part of this project.  I know there are many people who are modest and probably believe as I have stated on my profile page that we get out of Wikitree what we put into it.  However, I believe volunteers should always be praised for their diligence and I would welcome the opportunity to provide that praise to anyone who is deemed worthy, especially to those who have been recognized for their contributions such as being awarded a Wonderful Wikitreer award.   Hard work and significant contributions from Wikitree volunteers should always be recognized and I think I am a person who can do it.

Thanks,

John

I would like to help show appreciation. I believe it encourages a lot of people to participate.
by Laura DeSpain G2G6 Pilot (160k points)
Laura, I am so sorry. Did I send you a message about this project? I think I did, but didn't hear back. Let me know. Thanks! Emma
Hi Emma, thank you for asking. No, I have not received a message about this project yet. Laura
I am so sorry about that Laura. You now have the badge and I sent you a message.

That's okay. Things happen and people get busy. Thank you for the Badge! smiley

Emma, I'd like to join the Appreciation Team.  Those thank you's and messages can mean a lot, whether you're a newbie or a veteran.

G'day Emma

I would love to be a tree hugging part of the Appreciation team by thanking people who make contributions to Joiner, Joyner and Wingham profiles.

However although I happily follow the appreciation tag on G2G, I am not in Google Groups and am unwilling to meet the requirement of participating in a google group - unless there is a particularly good reason for this.

I really appreciate the encouragement I get from you guys and would like to commit to give back to others.

regards

Veni

by Veni Joyner G2G6 Mach 1 (16.1k points)
Hi Veni, I am so so sorry about getting back to you so late. I"ve been ill for a couple of weeks. You now have the badge. Since you won't be able to join the Google group, please make sure to follow the tag so you can keep up with any project announcements. Thanks!
A trick is to join Google with a brand new unidentifiable mail address and make sure all session are in either another browser or in a private window that you close after logging out again.

That reduces the G influence, but it's not watertight...
Thank you Emma. Yes I have tagged  appreciation.
Thank you Michel for taking the time to reply with some well thought useful comments.  However it's not particularly the privacy issue that makes me unwilling but the issue of priorities.  I try to limit the number of websites I'm involved in order to prioritize my time to where I where I most want to use it.

I already read and attend to the G2G, daily and weekly emails from wikitree, and I don't see the need to receive more from another source as I have my little niche in the Appreciation project which is well defined and I will do my best to service just that particular area.

God Bless you
Veni

Hello. :) I want to join the Tree Huggers and Appreciation Team. This is my kind of thing.
by Greta Moody G2G6 Pilot (175k points)
Hi Greta, I see you have the Tree Hugger badge since it's the same for the Accessiblity Angels.  I'll send you more information since you were asking about Adoption Angels too. Emma :-)
Hi Emma! :) Thanks!

Since I enjoy sourcing and I appreciate all the effort it takes, I would like to become a member of the Appreciation Team to show my appreciation to Wikitree's Sourcerers.  I also recently changed my email address to a shorter address and I just hope my quest for convenience doesn't cause too much inconvenience.

Thanks

Hi Jo,  I've got you added and you now have the badge. Thank you for appreciating the Sourcerers, a very hard working bunch!
Thanks, Emma!  That sure was a fast response which makes me feel like I should get started right away which I plan on doing.  Thanks for the other recommendations.  As a newer member of Wikitree, I look forward to see what else I can get into as the weather gets colder and we are stuck indoors looking for something to do.

Thanks again!
