WikiTree's Appreciation Team are active members who enjoy strolling through WikiTree looking for great work and letting other members know how much it's appreciated. WikiTree prides itself on being one of the most factually sourced websites, and also one of the most friendly. Emma, I hate to be a wet blanket, but in reading the project page, I clicked the link for "Appreciation Team Project Member List" and it displayed my badges page, with the message at the top:

PS  I'm not eligible to join because I am unwilling to meet the requirement of participating in a google group.

I've taken on the Honor Code, Emma. I already work that list one day a week for Greeters, so what're a few more messages.  Especially thank you messages! I can probably pop them out during greeting lulls.

Oh I would like to do this! When I first started on wikitree getting a thank you for my contributions definitely helped me not quit. I can show appreciation anywhere, I already thank people for surnames I follow. They are McGuire, Haese, Gorman, Bispham, Coppin, and Winterborne. And I can take on the Generous Genealogist Blue badge recipients too if that is helpful :)

I would love to join! Can you please add me? What a great way to show our appreciation for helping hands! I would like to take on the Surname Task. I tried to join the Google Group, but it is private and I cannot see it's content. I only just saw this project existed!  I am interested in joining and plan to appreciate those who add surnames for Coat, Cassidy and Britton as these are DNA name studies I am working on!

I would consider it to be an honor be a part of this project.  I know there are many people who are modest and probably believe as I have stated on my profile page that we get out of Wikitree what we put into it.  However, I believe volunteers should always be praised for their diligence and I would welcome the opportunity to provide that praise to anyone who is deemed worthy, especially to those who have been recognized for their contributions such as being awarded a Wonderful Wikitreer award.   Hard work and significant contributions from Wikitree volunteers should always be recognized and I think I am a person who can do it.

G'day Emma

I would love to be a tree hugging part of the Appreciation team by thanking people who make contributions to Joiner, Joyner and Wingham profiles. 

However although I happily follow the appreciation tag on G2G, I am not in Google Groups and am unwilling to meet the requirement of participating in a google group - unless there is a particularly good reason for this.

I really appreciate the encouragement I get from you guys and would like to commit to give back to others.

A trick is to join Google with a brand new unidentifiable mail address and make sure all session are in either another browser or in a private window that you close after logging out again.

That reduces the G influence, but it's not watertight...

Thank you Michel for taking the time to reply with some well thought useful comments.  However it's not particularly the privacy issue that makes me unwilling but the issue of priorities.  I try to limit the number of websites I'm involved in order to prioritize my time to where I where I most want to use it.  

I already read and attend to the G2G, daily and weekly emails from wikitree, and I don't see the need to receive more from another source as I have my little niche in the Appreciation project which is well defined and I will do my best to service just that particular area.
