How do I know which team to join for the "...thon's"? And then how do I join?

Cindy, there is a lot of overlap between the teams if you're interested in joining one based on your geography, your ancestors' geography, or one of the theme-teams, like Mayflower decendents.  You're welcome to join a project-team even if you're not signed up as a member of that project.  These marathons are a way to meet and work with new people on a common goal, and to have fun, of course.

Thanks so much Ros.  I wasn't specific enough with my question.  Will the teams have descriptions, or perhaps common geographic areas, etc.  So I guess I'm asking if there is a group that would be better for me to join than another?  Thanks again for your very helpful answer.  Still learning the ropes and appreciate all the kind help.

I usually think about in which geographic area I want to work (being a member of several projects that isn't always sooo easy) and then I choose a team that covers this area. That way I was in Team Maple Leafs for the Sourceathon (sourcing Canadian profiles), in a worldwide team for the Scanathon (adding my German and Serbian family pictures) and in the Nor'Eastern team for the Cleanathon, because I kicked out "USA too early" suggestions.

For joining you will have to answer the "Recruitment thread". That will be fixed in G2G once it is created. The best version is you already know which team you want to join. And when you answered in that thread you should also react to the "...thon Chat Thread" of your selected team.
