Help, I have been given a generous Genealogist BUT I don't deserve it

I noticed yesterday that I had a new badge, a Thank you for being a generous genealogist. But looking at the reason. I think I was incorrectly given the badge.

I can find no Richard Harwood that would be relevant to the Thank you - from a quick check I think he would have been the one born 1795 and living in Bedford County with wife Jane and numerous children.

I could add this Richard but it might not help with the place of birth of which I am being Thanks.

I thought it possible that I added it to  child of Richard's (Research notes) but I can't remember doing that. I am a little puzzled.

Anyone able to help

Congratulations on your GG badge, Heather!

You did something that seemed minor to you, but it was a big deal to another member, who honored you with a badge.  Believe me, there will be plenty of times when it works the other way.  If you did something huge, would you be here asking, 'Hey, where's my badge?'  Of course not!

So well done, and keep up the excellent work!

Herbert, you are right in your assessment, it always surprises me when I get a Thank you - whether as an acknowledgement with a like, a post saying I am a wonderful wikiteer, or a BADGE.

Just that this badge felt 'stolen' and wasn't sure if someone else had done some work and I had been wrongly been credited

Thanks for the star, Rubén!  smiley

You edited this profile

Could that be the reason? Or did you answer a question that helped another wikitreer?

I noticed that Marion, but that Richard died young (obviously I could be wrong) but he wouldn't be the one in Pennsylvania born 1795 married to Jane.

I haven't answered any questions recently relating to Harwood, hence why I am a little puzzled

The William Harwood (Brother of Richard)  which is also mentioned in the thank you  also puzzled me, I have no record of William born about 1856 emigrating in fact I have him in all census records up to 1911 - he could emigrate later but again he wouldn't fit with The Richard born 1795

Marion, I've decided to add the Richard born 1795 and see were it takes me laugh maybe I will find a Birth!

That you would go out of your way to add a profile to "accommodate" the award says you are indeed deserving of a "Generous Genealogist" badge. Well done! yesheart

laugh Well I am trying but I suspect the individual isn't a Lancashire Harwood.

I may have found the 'brother' William but not confirmed as yet

Enjoy the (brief) glory, Heather. My answers -- when selected, complete with a notice from Wikitree, are the 15-minutes of Fame for a Prom Queen, because -- generally -- someone ELSE comes along with a BETTER answer and gets the STAR, and my little prom queen stands forlorn and demoted and tattered ... but for all of "15 minutes" there, she glowed ...

Heather. I was looking around trying to figure out how to give an award and saw this. Your post told me so much about you. This level of honesty shows a strength of character that is so rare in this day and age. Too many people would have never given this a second thought. (That's not a WT comment as I've found more honest people here than any other group site on the internet.) You doing this reminded me of a man I once knew, a good man, that had been undercharged by a nickel. At the end of his meal he brought this to the attention to the manager. She told him not to worry about it but he insisted on paying the company that nickel. His honesty was an example that I've never forgotten. I'm honored to be on this site with you. Please don't ever let anyone rob you of the conviction that tells you to do the right thing.

Lucy, what a wonderful comment. I think you and Herbert have both given the best answers. Thanks for sharing this.
