How to insert correct lineage but retain the present data in a cousin line?

I have discovered that my ancestor, Alexander Allen, belongs in a different part of our Allen Family Tree. The Ancestry already entered belongs there too, so I want to retain that and add it in as a cousin line. Must I delete the lot and re-enter it all?

No Mary. You don’t need to delete anyone. Work out exactly where Alexander Allen needs to be. Make a note of the relevant profile numbers so you don’t get in a muddle. Disconnect him from his existing parents and them connect him back in the right place.

Thank you so much, Fiona. That is all I needed to know. I have dozens and dozens of names to enter, now that I am sure of the correct placement of Alexander. I have been too hesitant about making claims, but now that there is enough evidence, I will continue.

Especial thanks for answering so soon.

Mary
