Looking to find primary sources for Admiral Nelson's other daughters I identified a book of his letters as a possibility. It's a book, not on the internet. Popped into the local library today and was told it is not held by the County. "So?" I've used the inter-library service for years. "It's very expensive". "Really?" I could always afford it. "Used to be £1 then it went up to £4, now it's £40, or perhaps it's £20." Not willing to pay that much I stomped out. Whatever happened to the 1948 commitment to affordable life-long learning? "Anyway this library has hardly any books in it now." Poor girl, it isn't her fault. However much I love Wikitree I'll never pay that to see a couple of lines in a letter or two. I was really upset and muttered for hours. Himself was very kind. When we got home he found a second hand copy available for £6.50p including postage. That is just plain barmy.
