The Scotland Project covers profiles for everyone born in what we now know as Scotland from the earliest times until today,

See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Scotland  for details.

The Project is organised into teams and the main requirement for membership in the Scotland Project is that you join a team and our google group.

The Teams are :-

  • County Teams: There is a team for each of the historic counties of Scotland. If your ancestors come from a particular area, or you have interest in a particular county, then one of these teams might be the right ones for you.
  • Profile Improvements Teams: We also have teams for each area of profile improvement, from Sourcerers to Data Doctors to the Categories Team. These are often in conjunction with the functional associated projects. These teams are great for people wanting to do one aspect of work across the whole of Scotland.
  • Managed Profiles Team: This team is for people who are interested in carrying out specialist work on some of our "Flagship Profiles" for Scotland. Members of this team must have the pre-1500 badge.

If you would like to join the Project then we would love to have you.  Please post an Answer below.

The Scotland Project is closely aligned with the Scottish Clans  Project.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Scottish_Clans

To join that project please post an Answer below.

If you are already a UK badge holder please do not post below but wait till you are contacted by Susie McLeod who will pass your name on to each Countries Membership Team to take forward - Thanks for your co-operation and patience.

Hi Maria,

I'd like to join and contribute (where I can) to the Scottish Project, as well as the Scottish Clans Project. I'm from NZ but have a number of links back to Scotland through the McFarlane, McMillan, McAlpine, McGregor, Campbell, McDonald and McLeod family lines.
Hi Dean and welcome to the Scottish Clans Project.   I'll contact you direct re the Scotland Project.
Hello:  I have recently found out that I am related to Innes Clan and maybe others but would like to find out more.  Is there a Innes Clan Project or just all in with the Scottish Project.  I would like to join toe Scottish Project and also the Innes Clan Project (if there is one).

Thank you Linda
Good day! I'm quite interested in joining. I have confirmed lineage on my maternal side in Kincardinehshire and Angus to the early 1800s. On my paternal side, I have strongly suspected ties, given my surname Dalrymple and a written history by my 3rd great grandfather, William Henry Dalrymple. Unfortunately, there was little mention of the arrival of my line of Dalrymples, aside from believing they came in the 1730s and settled in Sudbury, Massachusetts. I have confirmed their settling in Sudbury in 1763 and that they resided in Boston prior to that.

I have done both Ancestry and FamilyTree DNA tests (Y37). The y-37 showed 3 matches with Dalrymple surnames and a genetic distance of 0.
Hi Linda, sorry for the delay in picking up your post and thanks for your interest in the Scotland and Scottish Clans Project.    I'll contact you direct to take this forward.

I am interested in the Scottish Clans project. My mother was from Edinburgh, Scotland and I have a certificate for the Keith Clan, but have had others tell me the Wood family was in the Roxburgh Clan.

Hi Maria,

Although I am based in Northern Ireland, I would be interested in helping with the Scotland Project in any way that I can. My ancestors are from the Dumfries & Galloway region with a number being born in Colvend, Keirmill and Thornhill areas.

I am interested in joining the Scotland project as I have hit a brick wall in trying to research my husband's grandfather . I have some info for when he was here in Australia but nothing before or even after.

Thanks

Hi Wendy!  You weren't logged in when you requested to join.  If you could provide your WikiTree ID, I'd be happy to take this forward for you.

I think I found you.  It appears that you've already been contacted by Maria smiley

Thanks for your reply.  Now you have contacted me I do not know what I do now - all I know is I need some help in trying to find out who my husband's grandfather was - my three sons great grandfather etc.  My husband now has dementia (not that he knew anything about his grandfather anyway) and he doesn't really care about it but I do - as I said it is a forebear of our sons.
I'll check in with Maria to check the status of your request.  You could, in the meantime, post on G2G and ask for help or information about this ancestor.

Hi Wendy,   I'll send you a copy of my earlier message so that we can take your interest in the Scotland Project forward. together with using the Scotland People site. https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/ which is the best source for the information you are looking for.

Hi - I would like to join The Scotland Project please. I’ve lived here for 60 years (born elsewhere). My family mainly come from Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire and Dumfries-shire so I’d be happy to be on any groups for those counties. Thanks!

I'm very interested in joining the Scotland Project! :-)

I'm a (documented) Scottish descendent as well as a part of the Clan Kerr's. My brother Kevin is an active member of the "Clan Kerr of the Unites States and North America!" (http://www.clankerr.org) as well as a part of the Scottish Games when it takes place in Upstate New York with a Clan Kerr booth.

As a Disabled Retired Veteran myself, I'm very limited in my activities for the Scottish Games myself, but I do what I can from home.

I am a direct descendant of John Hyndman of Lunderston and Elizabeth Hunter, daughter of the 22nd Laird of Hunterston and Marion Crauford. I have traced the Hunters back to 1025 and,the  Hyndmans back to 1425.  I am very interested in joining the Aryshire County team to start in order to help others and to seek help with filling in gaps or holes in the family tree,  Also interested on the migration of the Hyndmans.  Example, I am from the Asian line, descendants of Colonel Henry Hyndman HEIC, (the son of John Hyndman of Lunderston and Elizabeth Hunter) and Joana do Pilar.

Thank You.

I’m interested in Paisley Scotland and Scotland Clans and history. My great uncle Mathew Kennedy came from there and married my great aunt Christina Heinz whose family were from Germany. Also his brother Thomas Kennedy who helped create the Jew Bill immigrated as well. Thank you.

I’m not sure if my last message went through. I’m interested in Paisley Scotland. I would like to also look deeper in a branch of mine that came from that area, the Kennedys , not the Kennedy of the Irish clan. My branch had three sons immigrate leaving parents and rest in Scotland. This is immigrant Thomas Kennedy who helped create the Jew Bill and brother Mathew who lived in Washington DC and moved to Ohio with wife Christina Heinz of Germany. I believe the mother of the sons was Gazelle Kennedy. Thank you.

I am interested in the Scottish project.  My Grandfather Joseph Edward Kirkwood is first generation in the US.  I was told by the family that our Kirkwood's came from the Isle of Skye but I do not have records of that... Although I would love to find out somehow.

Hello. I have Scottish ancestors, and have found quite a number of them. I have just joined wikitree, and have not yet discovered how to confirm my email address, so cannot yet edit any profiles. I have already found some of my ancestors on wikitrees, whose profiles need updating.
