Is there a template for Familysearch ID numbers, similar to the FindAGrave template

+8 votes
I use the FindAGrave template sometimes; example
{{FindAGrave|64924456|Mar 11, 2019|Sarah Ann Bowhay Ditto (1853-1934)}}, citing Saint Thomas Episcopal Church Cemetery, Hancock, Washington County, Maryland, USA. with headstone photograph.

I also use the Ancestry Tree template occasionally, like this:
{{Ancestry Tree|28946093|332079695870}} for Frances Mary "Curly the Clown" Wittenauer in [[Johnson-66929|Ron Johnson]]'s Ancestry Family Tree

I was wondering if there is a similar template to link FamilySearch ID #S?

Hiya Ron,

I believe this conversation was brought up last year probably about this time. If I recall correctly source templates are not recommended as clarified by Source Templates (Limited) However here is some that have been used in the past Source Templates

There is also External link templates that have been approved. I don't see family search on this list. However you could always make a suggestion by following guidelines listed Help:Developing New Rules

Hope this answers your question

I had worked on creating FamilySearch external link templates at one point; however, it was pointed out that we already have the FamilySearch Connections, so linking to a person ID would be redundant.

We could however create a template for linking to Records if that was desired... FamilySearch uses Persistent Identifiers (Archival Resource Key (ARK) URLs), so we would only require a 4x4x4 id, (i.e., 3QS7-L9MY-ZHHP).

So a template usage example could be:

{{FamilySearch|3QS7-L9MY-ZHHP|United States Census, 1940|13 Apr 2016}} creates:

United States Census, 1940 on FamilySearch, Record ID: 3QS7-L9MY-ZHHP , retrieved 13 Apr 2016.
