What is with all the anonymous users?

Can someone explain all the anonymous users asking questions?  Do they even know if they've been answered?

A popular genealogy newsletter (Eastmans) publicized WikiTree this week. It's how I learned about you. Might be what's driving a lot of new traffic over here.

When you ask a question anonymously, you can enter an email address to be notified if your question in answered or commented on.

Lianne, I see that-- the email option is available for non-anonymous as well. Still doesn't answer why WikiTree allows anonymous users.

Also I'm beginning to think that there's a firewall of some sort between g2g and wikitree-- i.e., they are two completely different systems. I didn't get that at first. Even if that's true, anonymous users, even if only on g2g, seems counter to the collaborative nature of WikiTree.

I think I agree with Jillaine.  I really enjoy helping other users of the tree.  They tend to ask questions after trying to solve problems themselves.  They reference the profile they are having the issue with and I'm pretty sure that if I have a question someday that they know the answer to they'll jump in.  I honestly am going to look at questions from registered users before I try to answer something from anonymous.
