Quest for Great-Grandparents: How Are We Doing?

Question

I was pondering a couple of new lists for the Relation Finder Quick Links "Quest for Great-Grandparents" challenges, when I looked at the list of challenge threads on the "How to increase a country's presence on WikiTree" page, and realised that we're up to 14 challenges. So I think I'll pull in my horns a bit, and not post any more until three of them get completed, and then I can add one, and try to keep it at an even dozen. After all, surely a dozen different challenges would be enough variety for just about anybody's taste, right? (Besides which, I'm going to have a lot less time to spend on WikiTree going forward.)

So how are the challenges going? Here are the top three challenges in order by percent complete:

You may have noticed that the order of those lists is different. That's because there are different numbers of people in the challenges. So the Australia challenge ranks lower in terms of how few great-grandparents still need to be found than it does in terms of percent complete, because it has a much longer list of people. (The Orbital Edition would have been even larger if I hadn't broken it into two.)

So, if you're anxious to see another challenge sooner, those lists should give you some ideas about where to concentrate your efforts.

On the other hand, if you feel like giving some love to a bunch of notables who have a serious deficit of great-grandparents, Quest for Great-Grandparents: Archivist Edition is the challenge which is in last place in terms of percent complete, and Quest for Great-Grandparents: Hymn Writer Edition is the challenge which has the greatest number of great-grandparents still to find.

Update: None of the challenges are actually complete yet, but the wonderful people who have been taking part have managed to connect and find at least one great-grandparent for enough people that we have been able to add Australian Prime Ministers, Presidents of France, Great African-Americans, and Heads of State to the Relationship Finder Quick Links page. WikiTreers rock!

So, last week, I launched a new challenge to find great-grandparents for former prime ministers of the Netherlands, and Team Netherlands took that challenge and ran with it! After only eight days, that challenge has jumped past all the other great-grandparent challenges, and is in serious danger of being completed soon. I have been very surprised and pleased with their enthusiasm. I don't think I'll actually do all my challenges from now on in Dutch, but I'm sorely tempted. 

(I should acknowledge that Google Translate made it a lot easier to run this challenge in Dutch, even though I can't speak a word of it. Although I did bump into the limits of machine translation over the course of the week.)

Is there a way I can find out other NZ ones needing gr grandparents?  I know where the Prime Ministers list is (The Irish have me stumped!) and have done the Archivist one.  Are there others I can work on?

I list the countries included in each challenge on the "How to increase a country's presence on WikiTree" page. I'm sorry, but none of the other current challenges have anybody from New Zealand on them. However, there are a number of unconnected Kiwis (and links to more) in the New Zealand section of the "Let other know what locations you are working on" page.

(If there's a pop/soda/soft drink that was invented in New Zealand, and you can find out the inventor's birthdate and place, I could add them to the "Fizzy" challenge. Or I could add somebody who invented a New Zealand goodie to the "Goodie" challenge.)

Kylie, what about Whittaker’s peanut slab created by Maurice Whittaker? There’s the beginnings of a great family tree on their website, though Maurice Whittaker may still be alive. A Geni tree has him born in 1914, which would relate to a 1982 death??

Thomas Bracken already has an impressive page but, in hindsight, he is a poet.  They turned a poem into a hymn so probably isn't actually a 'hymn writer'.
