Untangling the early McPhatter and McFatter families -- Part I

This post is mostly me talking aloud to myself as I try to sort out the relationships between the early (pre-1840) McFatters/McPhatters of North Carolina and neighboring states. I have found little in the way or wills or probates to make identification easier. Any assistance would be appreciated!

Daniel McFater -- old enough to have been an indentured servant freed in 1741 in New Hanover co., NC. Appears to have been alive as late as 1756. Was he the father of all subsequent McFatters/McPhatters?

John -- Revolutionary War veteran. Still alive as of 1782.

Archibald -- living with Daniel in 1771, Bladen co. NC. Another Revolutionary War veteran, but enlisted in South Carolina.

Daniel -- born about 1755, probably the same man who was living with Archibald in 1771. Another Revolutionary War vet, lived to at least 1818, and we know from a deed that he was married to a woman named Mary. He had two boys under 10 in his household in 1810.

Malcolm -- refused to take an oath of allegiance to the state of NC in 1777. Loyalist and served in NC militia. Was still living in Bladen county as of 1784.

Donald -- another loyalist. His name is given as "Donald McFatter, Jr" in a muster roll, suggesting there was once a Donald Sr. Living as of 1790 in Robeson co., where he had one male under 16 and another male over 16 (besides himself) in his household.

Question: Were John, Archibald, Daniel, Donald, and Malcolm all sons of the first Daniel? Who was this implied "Donald Sr.?"

Alexander -- born about 1770. DNA evidence suggests he was a brother or other close relative of Isabella and Niven. Living on his own in 1800 in Bladen near Daniel, Isabella, and Margaret. He moved to Louisiana by 1820, then a few years later to Mississippi. His children were all named in probate records.

John -- born about 1774, living next to Archibald in 1800 Robeson co. NC (he was unmarried and childless at the time). His children moved to Florida.

Archibald -- born about 1778, living next to John in 1800 Robeson co. NC. Seems to have had a household of siblings (?) as there was another male 16-26 besides himself, and 3 white females 16-26. By 1830 he had a large family of his own. His son William died at age 26 in 1848.

Duncan -- born about 1778. Married to a woman named Mary, living next to an Elizabeth McPhatter in 1840 (perhaps a widowed sister-in-law?).

Archibald -- born 1781. Married to a woman named Dorothy, had all daughters. Briefly lived in South Carolina in 1820, returned to Robeson county where his death was reported in the Fayetteville Observer in 1851.

Niven -- born about 1786. Is he the 16-26 year old white male in the household of Margaret in 1800? DNA testing suggests a close relationship to Alexander. Appears to have been the head of household of siblings and perhaps a widowed mother in 1810 Bladen co. NC. Served in War of 1812, moved to Giles co. TN by 1820, then onto Mississippi where he left a large family.

Question: Who are the children of Margaret McKeithan McFatter in her household in 1800? She had 2 boys under 10, 1 boy 10-16, a young man 16-26, 2 girls under 10, and 2 girls 16-26. Big family! She's living near Daniel, who I suspect is her brother-in-law, and Alexander, who may be her eldest son.
