Julius C. Barlow 3 marriages

I found my ancestor, Julius C. Barlow listed 3 times in the same record on the same date and in the same place, but whose wives had different last names. They were Hannah Buckalew, Hannah Buskaloo and Hannah Ruthel.

The record was on Ancestry.com: New Jersey Marriage Records, 1670-1965 (database online) Lehi, UT: Ancestry.com Operations, Inc, 2016.

Original data Marriage Records: New Jersey Marriages, New Jersey State Archives, Trenton, New Jersey: The Film Numbers were different on each entry as well.

How do you explain this?  Which name can I assume is correct? Julius died in 1862 so there is not another census record for him.

Marylee, the most likely explanation is easy - different people transcribed the record differently.  If any of those listings has an image that you can view, do that and you are likely to be able to figure out the correct name.

Looking at the images for the second and third transcriptions on Ancestry (the first does not have an image), the names look like "Hannah Buckaloo" and "Hannah Buckal...". The writing disappears into the binding of the document on the second image, hence the full surname is not readable. The handwritten "B" does look very much like an "R", so I can see why it was trascribed as "Ruthal".

The images note that Hannah was from Mauricetown, Cumberland County. There are already a few Mauricetown Buckalow/Buckaloo/Buckalew profiles on Wikitree, for example Samuel Buckalow
