OK, hope I did it right this time! My father's WWII photo (Armistead-1067) seems to be showing up, but in a weird format.

This is my Dad, Ralph Stewart Shane, Jr., at 9 weeks old in 1921 with his Dad, Ralph Stewart Shane.  I love how they're looking at each other in this photo!

The idea of Paternal equates in my mind with my father's father who considered himself the head of our family. Erik Paulsen Flamer was born in Bergen Norway and emigrated after WWI.

My parents on their wedding day they had only known each other about 2 weeks when dad asked mum to marry him, as he was off to Korea and he wanted to take her with him. They got married, she stayed behind and they managed 67 years of age, before dad passed away just after their annivesary.

This picture taken in 1974 shows my father back to on the left, with his siblings. John had come back from Australia with his family for a visit only time he came home so this is a rare and treasured family picture.

Brian, Fred(dad), Elizabeth(Betty), Betrum (Bert), John and Katherine (Kath) Peter unfortunately couldn't join us.

Just 3 left now Bert, Kath and Peter.

This is a picture of my Dad, (Top = Left to Right, and bottom, Left to Right =) Duane, [[Olmstead-2805|Duane Olmstead]], his sister, Jean, his sister, Nancy, their mother, my Grandma Florence, and his sister, Doris.

This is my First week to participate in the 52_Photos Challenge.

And, I cannot seem to get my picture to show up on this page, unfortunately. But, I did add it to the 52_Photos Challenge page.

I used this picture earlier for Sunday Best - but this is one of the rare pictures I have of my dad with his dad. Once my dad got a camera he was the one taking the pictures.

They were visiting a neighbor's house most likely after church on a Sunday. Every other day my Granddad would have been in his farming clothes.

My great grandather was certainly a paternal model. He legally adopted one daughter, informally adopted one son, and raised 5 biological daughters.

My Daddy

This man right here, Has always been more of a dad then he has had to be. He isn’t my “Father” He met my mother when she was expecting me and they married when I was three weeks old. He has always called me his and treated me no different then his biological kids. Actually most of the time I got spoiled more because I was his only girl.

Here is a picture of my dad holding me. Not sure why mom took a picture of the back of my dads head. I had another picture I wanted to use but it is to messed up. My moms pictures have a lot of damage to them.

Most of my early photos of my Dad are still in storage, but here's one that I especially love.  He is showing or explaining something to my favorite Auntie and Godmother Emily.  Doesn't look like much, but when you know that Auntie Emily was deep into the throes of Alzheimers you can feel the paternal caring hand of my Dad. He always had a great, kind, and loving heart. Miss you Daddy.

This 3-generation picture captures the theme, Paternal, pretty well.
