what's an upvoted answer?

(I did try to find the answer elsewhere...)

Oh... wait, I think I may have figured it out. Under Unanswered tab, a sub-tab is "No upvoted answer" which totallly confounded me. upvoted?

I believe this means that while a question may have been answered, no one has clicked on the star of one of the responses. Is that it?

Do I get any points or an increase in my status if I got it right? ;-)

An upvoted answer is an answer that has had the up arrow clicked in the little green box beside it. The idea is that if there are lots of answers to a question, answers will be voted up or down, so the good ones will float to the top. The same goes for questions.

Ah... that's what the box on the left is for. I see it only works on answers, not comments. Sometimes, I've been noticing, the best answers are in the comments. And do people really use the down arrow? Yikes...
Yes, I've found that my (poor) sense of humor has gotten me two down votes.

I no longer try to make jokes.
And does getting down votes subtract from your "points" or demote your G2G status? ;-)
I don't know. Perhaps one of the 'real' authorities will chime in.
oh dear, not necessary; i was joking. kinda.
I promise I've never downvoted your jokes, Tom! :P I don't think people use the down vote much. Generally answers here are helpful.

And I don't know how/if it affects your score. Feel free to downvote my answer to test!
