A merge was requested with no sources. I rejected it. Now the person went ahead and merged & is profile mgr. also.

Maybe I should remove this other person instead?
You could do that, although it's not very collaborative.  The other person could not have completed the merge unless either you approved the merge, or you ignored the merge request for more than thirty days.  Looking at the Change page, the merge was neither proposed nor completed by the other profile manager.  In fact, the other PM has not made a contribution for about a year.

If the merge brought incorrect info into the profile, you should fix it.  Adding more sources would also improve it.
Change history says that other PM did not do the merge.

The other profile from the rejected match still exists.  The recent merge was with a different duplicate.  It probably went through by default after thirty days.  The rejected merge looks pretty similar, and has a lot of sources.  If Turnbow-122 is not a duplicate, it might now be conflated with Turnbow-125.  I think Turnbow-122 needs more work to determine whether he is the same or different.

122 also has two sons, same name, same dates etc.
Same other PM, too.  I'm looking into the son right now.  His parents were definitely Turnbow and Klapp.

I added sources to various Turnbow profiles, and created a few more.

Benjamin Riley Turnbow has a Washington death certificate saying he was the son of Steven Turnbow and (unstated) Klapp.  He was definitely the son of Turnbow-122 and Clapp-1243.  His branch of the family virtually disappears from the records after the 1850 Census in Kentucky until 1900, when they pop up in Whitman County, Washington.

Turnbow-125 has the same spouse, and two different sons.  One of them, Isaac P Turnbow, also died in Washington, but before they recorded deaths.  I have not found any documents tying either Isaac or TJ Turnbow to Steven - no BMD records or Census records with them in the same home.  They might exist, but I didn't find them.

There are references to LDS church records indicating that members of this family were early converts.  You can see a description on TJ's FindaGrave memorial, and at Ancestry.  I don't know whether those records link the parents, but that would certainly merit further exploration.

Turnbow-122 and -125 might be the same person, or maybe not.  Turnbow-125 and Clapp-1243 may or may not be the parents of Isaac and TJ.  The sources on the profiles are weak in that area.

Robert, I understand your reluctance to approve the merge without stronger proof.  Hope that helps.

Thank you very much, Herb

Click the Privacy Tab on the profile.  Scroll down to the Trusted List.  Click the Remove Yourself button.

Thanks for the star, Gurney!  smiley

That "Remove Yourself" link removes you from the Trusted List. To remove yourself as profile manager, but stay on the Trusted List, use the link on the Privacy page to the right of your name.

I found the Find a Grave for son Benjamin in Washington, which matches the Death Certificate information, for the most part.  The FAG page states his parents are Stephen Turnbow and Mary Clapp Turnbow.  The Death Certificate spells Stephen as Steven and his mother's maiden name is spelled Klapp.

I have added that to both Benjamin and Stephen's profiles. The FAG page, which has a gravestone and picture of Benjamin, also lists both wives matching the wiki profile with dates given and list of his children.
