Great! Welcome Navarro!!
ff work and ate so going at it until I  get too tired
Well I got a fair number in - considering everything seemed against me getting anything done at all - lol now I have to go back and do a couple of citations on some of those - threw a link at them but that is just to hold them until I can write up a proper citation -

Good work team!  We did pretty good for a brand new team!

The sticker template has been created.

You can add it to your profile if you wish!

{{Connect-a-Thon|team=Canadian Connectors|year=2019}}

by Christine Daniels G2G6 Pilot (168k points)
How do you add the template to your profile?
Copy the template, go to your Profile, click EDIT, and paste it just under the Biography heading.

Hi gang! I have two questions for you.

1. After the latest welcome emails for the connect a thon, I decided that my original plan to add siblings of my direct ancestors would be great for my tree, but not help connect people who are stranded in isolated trees. So, I’ve decided that for the thon I will focus on the Unconnected List for Québec.  The first person I found (doing some prep night before) is actually a husband and wife that are duplicates. I’m not sure if doing the merges will count towards my thon score, but it will connect that cluster of 102 profiles to the big tree.  QUESTION - Do I go ahead and do the merge right away, it is obvious they are the same people based on the dates and places entered, but neither profile has sources. Luckily, I’ve found those to add when I merge.

2. Is there a document that we use to indicate what we’re working on so we don’t overlap.?

Thanks, Greg
by Greg Clarke G2G6 Pilot (110k points)

1. I don't think the merge will count either sad

2. No. There are only 19 of us, I'm sure we won't get in the way of each other too much?

What does everyone else think? We can post here to keep track if that would help?

I can also put a table on our Team page as well?

You could attach the spouse to the other profile, so one profile is married to two "Jane Doe's" , thus they will be connected.  But only do that if it is very clear they are the same people.
OK I just whipped up a fast table and put it on our Team page to show who is working where. Feel free to edit :)

I'm taking a run at the Nova Scotia unconnected profiles.

Let's see if we run into each other!

I am working on the unlinked (single profiles), the second row in the suggestion box.  There are so many, please do not be afraid to bump into me, I do not mind.

I look for a group of profiles with the same last name, all born within a few years of each other, all with the same profile manager.  It looks like they splintered on import to WikiTree.  usually the parents are already in WikiTree, so it is just a matter of attaching to existing profiles (hopefully connected).  of course add the source that supports that they are family.

I then look under Find/Unconnected Profiles/ press the green "total" in the middle of the page, and search by the last name, to see if there are any more siblings (typically with same PM) that might be attached to a spouse (but still unconnected),

Then, if I look at the PM profile and see how many people came in via the gedcom import and then use this WikiTree+ function to find anymore unconnected profiles they might be easily connected  https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/846697/how-produce-wikitree-report-unconnected-profiles-certain

WOW. No wonder you're in first place on our team! 43 profiles already!!
Doing great S! You're in the top 25.

Christine, have you noticed that people like Liam Spencer, and you, aren't showing on our stats?  I'm not competitive ...
by Laurie Giffin G2G6 Pilot (104k points)
Sadly.. I have 3 (overly needy??) children.. and my chore list is enormous. I am planning on getting some done a bit later but I keep popping in to see how everyone is doing!

Not sure about Liam, he might be at work?
Ah, okay.  I caught some chat between Liam and someone else and assumed he was working on this right now.  I was just wondering about the stats.  Please don't you or he feel any pressure, I won't be at this all weekend either.

I am going to work on British Columbia profiles.

by Peggy Watkins G2G6 Pilot (837k points)
Awesome! Thanks Peggy!
This is going well so far. I have added a bunch of new profiles for the unconnected from my own watchlist. No connections to the big tree so far but getting closer, I hope!
I finally connected someone to the BIG tree! Woot!

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Macey-168

WOW!! GOOD JOB!!

I am also working on BC profiles but feel like I'm spinning wheels.  I did "connect" someone but the stupid puzzle piece is there but up the chain 5 people and there is none.  Why does it say that the person Chase-1249 is not connected if an ancestor Chase-1117 is?
That... I can't explain? If Chase-1117 is 12 or 13 degrees from the anchors, I don't understand how his son has no connections??
so it's not just me.. oh good. I thought I was missing something crucial. thanks

I'll still keep plugging away tomorrow but I'll break for tonight.
The puzzle piece only gets removed (and the connection block at the bottom of the page added) once per day. I think that script runs about midnight GMT, so you'll see the change tomorrow, Kathryn.
Thanks Greg! I was wondering about that!
What's the puzzle piece?

I think you have to be part of the official Connectors team to see it. I'm not, so I don't see them, but there was a G2G post about it...

New Unconnected Icon

Thanks for info, Christine. Now I know!

Getting the badge isn't hard. Just post an answer in the Connectors Project thread and ask for it. That's the badge that all the cool WikiTreers wear. wink

Anybody that loves early Quebec history, should look at all the unlinked (single) profiles that are in the 1500-1699 and 1700-1799 suggestion listings.

They appear to be large family groups just sitting waiting to be pieced back together, assume they broke up into single profiles on import to WikiTree.

I attached a few where the parents profile had a list of confirmed children (via Google translate), but this is outside my comfort zone.

just an fyi.

WOW team!!

Way to go! Over 1100 profiles added by our team!

I hope everyone had fun?!

Shall we do it again next year?? Who's in?
by Christine Daniels G2G6 Pilot (168k points)

Thank you for leading us through it Christine!  I'm in next year, schedule permitting.

I'll be cleaning up after myself for a few days, but I achieve everything on my list, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing the overall results in Atlantic Canada smiley

Way to go Christine and everyone else on the team --1100 profiles added is impressive! Sorry I missed it (offline in Newfoundland), but I'll try to participate next year.
Thank you Christine and way to go everyone! I should be up for it next year too.

I also achieved everything I set out to do on my watchlist. Now to go back and build those bios!
I looked at the team results.  I have no idea if I actually managed to connect anything.  as I don't know what the stats numbers (per columns meant). Can someone enlighten me?

Yes Kathryn, you did a super job!  The last figure in the row is the one I look at - it says you made 95 connections that weren't there before!  You placed 5th in our team, and made a huge contribution to our overall results.  Nicely done yes

I did put in some and I am not sure if anyone caused a connection yet but I did have fun and will be with you all next year

The Nor"Easters would like to offer congratulations on weathering the Connect-A-Thon. It was a big success adding many profiles to the tree and we had lots of fun. We also now have a huge spotify playlist to listen too while working on WikiTree. We were glad to have your team onboard in the effort.
