How long does it take for GEDmatch and WikiTree to connect? [closed]

Some time ago now (about a week before Genesis merged back into GEDmatch) I added GEDmatch IDs on WikiTree to two deceased kits I manage, and set their GEDmatch kits to show WikiTreelinks even if alias (both are public kits on GEDmatch).

I'm still waiting for the GEDmatch Tier one to show the WikiTree link.

Is the process to update such links still working from the WikiTree end?

We provide GEDmatch a file containing all the GEDmatch IDs and their corresponding WikiTree IDs. I've confirmed the file is still being updated.

Everything from there is handled by GEDmatch.

I am not sure, but ever since they became Genesis, I've been unable to connect my husband's kit at all. It's like Genesis has messed up some kind of link.

I have the same issue. It has not connected my Genesis kits since the switch over.

I contacted GEDmatch because my link is no showing.  I tried this but it did not work.  I do not have an alias.  I sent them screen shots of my set up preference in GEDmatch.  But it might work for you.   This is the email I got back:

Hi Laura,

There is an issue with the field which controls showing the WIKI tree link - related to migration.

Correcting this will require some additional time -

I know this seems counterintuitive but  if you set the access to disable it will display the links as long as you do not have an alias.

I will let you know when we have addressed the underlying issue.

thanks for that Laura.

It confirms that the issue is at their end.

Unfortunately the suggested workaround for my 2 kits as all I have is:

"No WikiTree link for this kit"

with no options.

(I  emailed GEDmatch support yesterday)

As of a few minutes ago I checked again and now my Wiki links are showing again!   Yeah!

Thanks for the update Laura.
Unfortunately the  two kits I'm monitoring for this still just show

No WikiTree link for this kit

in their profile page.

Did you click on the pencil next to the law enforcement insignia?  That opens your preference page.   Then scroll down to the bottom.  You should see 3 choices for that kit..  If you did not use an alias it sounds like you should select disable which is I admit opposite of what you think you should do.  But evidently that will get it to display.   If you used an alias I would try one of the other two choices.  If it still doesn't show in 48 hours try the other one...
I read that advice above Laura.
I do not have three options against the WikiTree line

Nothing on the profile management page says disable, let alone near the WikiTree link, which simply has the text already shown above.
I've never seen any reference to WikiTree at all on the new system. The old system had links for WikiTree people, and for people with GEDCOM files, but I've seen no such thing on the new system. Am I missing something?

I click on the "pencil", and it says (at the bottom) "WikiTree link is NOT publicly available"; "Public availability" was set to "Disable" for some reason. Clicking on "Enable even if alias" appeared to have no effect.
Frank login to Gedmatch.  Run the one to many Beta version for one of my kits.  You can see the numbers on my grandparents profile... use this one Woerner-56

You will see the word Wiki with a link next to my other kit and some other people as well.

When the system was migrated to Genesis you had to go back into your preferences and enable your kits to allow for WikiTree.   Follow the directions on the note I posted from them above.  I would wait 48 hours and if the link still does not show try a different choice of the 3 that show up.

For choices to show up you have to have kits on your profile and your profile has to be either open or have Yellow privacy.   If you have a more private setting it won't work.

Hope that helps.
Thanks, Laura!

I went over to GEDmatch, and happened to notice that "Beta" option, before coming back to read your advice. I think I'd checked it out before, some time ago, but hadn't gotten into the habit of using it.

So yes, I'm seeing those links now - over on the "Beta" option.

When I do that on my brother's, I don't see the Wiki option for me on our match.

I don't think I'm using an alias, and it was already on "disable". What you say above says that that should have been OK, but it was already there so maybe I'll try the last option, and see if that works over the next two days.
I had the same thing but what I had to do was click on one of the other options then click back on the disabled option they told me to use.  Then it took a while for it to actually show up and make the link visible.

I was contacted again by GEDmatch and both of my kits that show up in WikiTree are now showing the Wiki link.

What we had to do:  for the one that was migrated from the old site and for the new one created in Genesis I set the option to Enable if no Alias as I do not have an alias set up.

If you have set up an alias I understand that may not work.  Try removing the alias and see if you can get the links to show.

You have to make sure that in the section above you have enabled Public either with or without Law Enforcement access.  But you have to make your profile public.

Then enable below how the WikiLink shows up.

Hope that helps.   A lot more Wiki links are showing on my Beta test today.

I swear I had changed that flag, but when I looked, it was back to "disable". I thought I had tried the "Enable even if alias" option, which in hindsight made no sense for me to do anyway. Maybe it "bounced back" because I have no alias, or something.

So I went back and did it right - set it to "Enable if no alias". Here I am, just a couple of hours later, and it finally works!

Thanks, Laura!

I've heard back from GEDmatch, and all is now working again:

Hi Lorna,

We believe we have resolved the flow of info from wikitree to gedmatch.

It may take up to 4 hours for these changes to be reflected.

Let me know if there are issues.

------

I can confirm that the WikiTree links show on the one to many reports (Tier 1)

AND the missing WikiTree options on the Kit Profile Management page have been restored for the two kits I'd altered just before the merge of Genesis back to GEDmatch.

Thank you all who make these connections possible.
