Ok family sleuths, I am Jim Kolb, my Mother is Joy Smith formerly Marsh. Her father was Cashimere or Clarence R Marsh, her mother was Mildred Marsh (Rudy). My great grand parents were Mike and Katie Marsh, I have no maiden name for Katie, they come from the Ukraine or Poland. On the other side I have Mike and Theresa Rudy. I have no maiden name for Theresa . I have searched and searched, to no avail. Added info, the Marsh family to the best of my knowledge was Marycz originally

I wonder if the surnames are those that the family had in the “old country.” They do not sound like names I would consider as Austrian, Polish, Ukrainian, or Jewish.

Did your immigrant ancestors become citizens? If so, their naturalization documents, if you can find them, may provide some clues.

Some Polish records are coming online. There are a few at  https://icar-us.eu/en/cooperation/online-portals/matricula/ Try The Ukrainian Archives has records available, I believe.

I found this article http://euromaidanpress.com/2017/06/24/huge-genealogical-database-of-ukrainians-born-in-1650-1920-opens-online/ with its links which may be of use. See https://pra.in.ua/en
