According to the Mills Family Tree in Ancestry.com, Captain Bryan Smith, born 19 Nov 1818 in Pitt county North Carolina, married Mary Ann Galloway (1820 - 1845) on 21 Jan 1841 in Pitt county, North Carolina.  They had 2 sons, William Harvey (1841 - ) and Abner (1843 - ).  Mary Galloway died in 1945.

He then married Talitha Elitha Belson (1826 - 1895) on 04 Nov 1946 in Pitt county North Carolina.  They had 3 sons, Lewis E (1849 - 1888), Washington S E (1857 - 1930) and Marcellus (1863 - 1938).

Captain Bryan Smith died 22 Feb 1886 in Pitt County, North Carolina.

Neither of his parents are listed.

Talitha's parents are listed as Caleb Nelson (1789 - 1862) and Elizabeth Laughinghouse (1795 - 1871).

Hope this helps

His probate records are found in Pitt County estate records and his estate was valued at 216.90. (Was this in Duplin county at that time or do we have two men of same name who died about the same time?) W.S.E. Smith was the estate administrator.

Thanks Mr. Stanton!

Looks like this is our man.  I'm new to this, so I can't answer the Duplin Cty question.  I just have burial info through https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/177604357/bryan-smith.  Any idea who his father was?

Thanks
