Wiki is a great tool but the Voting/point System can be improved?

Wiki is a fabulous tool to connect other families!

In posting a question, I have seen 2 votes to other responses within 1 second of the response being posted. The individual that posted the answer then gets rewarded points.

So the following questions are asked to help improve the process:

--Shouldn't points be awarded for contributions?

--Should points  be awarded to the person who asked the original question for all responses or votes within the question ?

--Is there any process to disallow other immediate family members of the family from voting on another family members question which would help mitigate?

Have a look at this post, it has a full breakdown of all the points.

And as Kathy said, we aren't here for the points.  If you contribute daily, you'll hit Astronaut in about two years.  Unless you're really obsessed, like say Pip. cheeky

You get points for:

  • Asking a question.
  • Posting an answer.
  • Voting up an answer.
  • Having your question voted up.
  • Having your answer voted up.
  • Having your answer selected as the best.
  • Selecting an answer to your question as the best.

A billion points and $4.50 will get you a cup of coffee.  Does it really matter?

Oh my!  Is coffee really that expensive in some places nowadays?  I remember when I was growing up in New York City (a place known for being near the top of the range of expensive places) there was a classic line that beggars in the streets would say "Mister, can you spare a dime for a cup of coffee?" (a dime is 10 cents and a dollar is 100 cents, for those not familiar with American money).
I think that is putting things into perspective. LOL!
And I think the whole points set-up is an embedded function of the software used for G2G, not created by Wikitree

The $4.50 special offer that Kathy is mentioning includes this unique mug.

That's what points are for !!
