What is with these Baptisms in Luxembourg? Latin [closed]

Almost every entry on this page and the following pages lists a person to be baptized, the fathers name and a female with the last name Feigen (no sure of spelling).  The father and the woman don't seem to be married  because the father and woman don't match up every time.

Are you reading "filius" or "filia" as Feigen?  I don't see Feigen mentioned at all, but just scanned the record.

Not seeing it either. Most of the couples seem to be from Garnich “ex garnich”  Entries read something like:

date, baptism of xxx legitimate son/daughter of xxx and wife xxx from (town) godparents xxx and xxx from (town)

A little trick I have found useful is to transcribe a record that is readable, and use this as a model to read other records. If (or when) the church changes the requirements or style of the record, make a new template.

Baptism and marriage records tend to follow a prescribed formula, with the only difference being names, dates, and places.

As your proficiency increases, you will find that you no longer need the aid to read the essential facts from the records.

BTW: I agree with the Kathy’s ... it is filius or filia.

I agree with the others - I can't see Feigens. What I do see is lots of sons (filius) and daughters (filia) and 'baptismus fuit', which means 'was baptised', fuit being the perfect tense of the verb 'esse', 'to be'.

Good luck with the Luxembourg registers - I'm enjoying looking at these!
