Watchlist most recent edited glitch/error

There are a massive number of profiles I manage that have appeared at the top of my 'most recently edited' view of the watchlist with the edit date of 20th June 2019 that I have not edited and, looking at their history and the fact that one of them is a black privacy profile, nor has anyone else. I'm presuming this is to do with the recent changes to the editor. It's made it more difficult to go back to a recently edited profile that I expected to find near the top of the list, so I was wondering if there was a way you techy guys could stop technical edits affecting the watchlist?

Suggest: Add 'sysops' tag to your post, to get the attention of the right people.
Thanks Ros.
OK so looking at the profiles, I have 181 mysteriously edited on 20th June that nearly all have the Huguenot descendant sticker. A handful have the estimated birth date banner at the top.
I also had 460 on 19th that I failed to notice earlier lol and now another 43 on 21st, thats a total of 684.

laughAbby, it's gone past the point where Ales and his squad should be called in. SOME of those numbers (see the count in the comments) require superhuman efforts in editing ...

OF COURSE it depends on whether any egregious damages have been done in the process as to whether the PM affected should shrug and say it's another weird action by the WT Computer or just scream from whatever emotion they experience in being credited with superhuman abilities.

How many of us are ever credited even by implication with being "superhuman" or having "super powers"?

I haven't been credited with these superhuman efforts.... too bad.    But glad Ales was notified to see what's up.

Whenever I see this it's because a template contained in the profile has been updated.

That is definitely the reason. I edited 50 templates last week and all profiles using them were "updated". The fact is, that the part of the template, that is displayed on the page didn't change, so there is no visible change to a profile.

That is also a reason for Template project reorganization and the intent to move all instructions on a separate page. Then changes to the instruction part of template wouldn't affect the profiles.

Same here - only my mystery edits stretch back to the 19th and forward to today (21st) - when I have only just switched the computer on, so I certainly haven't done any edits!

I have now (according to my Watchlist) edited 207 profiles today.  And that's only by switching on the computer! Incidentally, 207 contributions have not been added to my contributions list.

Me, too, Ros.  According to my watchlist, I've made hundreds of edits over the last few days.

I know my memory isn't what it used to be, but  . . . wink

Gillian,

Was there anyone on the trusted lists of those who may have been removed? An account closed? Privacy changes? Those things do not show in changes but will cause them to show as having been edited.

Otherwise, Jamie or Ales may need to weigh in.
by Abby Glann G2G6 Pilot (416k points)
That's certainly not it for mine, Abby.  I have very few profiles with anyone else on the trusted list.  And I haven't done any bulk privacy changes lately.

Is a puzzlement.
I don't think so. I don't think I have anyone added to the TL on over 680 profiles, and it's split between three different days.

The effect it's had on me is that I always start the day with oldest edited, so that's 680+ profiles that won't get their turn at being overhauled.

I know this isn't the same as the bug I reported about getting contribution points for a change to any profiles that had been left open to the edit page in my browser before I shut my computer down … but … I have to wonder if it's somehow related, since it's recording a change when none was made.

Gillian, you could add the tag bug to the question, but I think sysops that you now have should be sufficient to get Jamie's attention.
