New York adoption records will soon be open!

The local newscast just announced that a law has made it to the governor to sign that will release old, original, birth certificates in
New York State.  I realize this is a double edged sword for some people and I don't have a dog in this fight  (or a child).
I'm just passing the information on so others may benefit from it.  I'm pretty sure Cuomo will sign it.  New York has been such a frustration for adoptees seeking such information.

According to the news I have read it would only grant adult adoptees in the state of NY unrestricted access to their birth certificate. This is something that they currently do not have, as the way it is now, they need to petition the court & all parties, including the bio parents, must consent.

Yes, there are probably other restrictions that will also be
revealed.  At least it is a start for some of them.  I can also
understand the feelings of birth parents who put the children up for adoption with the understanding it would always remain unknown.  As I said, a double edged dilema for some.
