Joshua Justice  also J.F. Justice b 1839 d. January 1900  North Carolina m Ellen Frances Hall MERRILL;  two children William 1866-1902 & James [died as child] 2nd marriage Jeannie Hensley, no children.

Joshua was born in Henderson County N.C. and lived all his life in that surrounding area. I cannot find parents  and/or siblings even though I have numerous resources to use. The family should be on the 1850 Census but isnt--and that would be the one Census that would help the most. I have a lot of info about him and his descendants, one of them myself of course. This has been frustrating me for years.

I dont think were gonna get everything we need off the internet. I would really like to go to that area and search for the original stuff but I probably would have to move there. lol

I am mainly looking for his parents and siblings. I've gotten lots of data on him through the years! I found out that he even "founded" the Little Creek Baptist Church in Madison County.

I have Justices in my database, from Transylvania County which was in Henderson County until 1861. The earliest I have is a Rev. Amos Ashe Justice in Macon County, who would be old enough to be a brother, but if he doesn’t show in the 1850, then I can’t tell if he is related to Joshua.

An alternate spelling is Justus, also found in Transylvania County. George M. Justus, b. 1872.

FamilySearch has him as married twice.  Once to Nancy E Jervis (Marriage: 29 January 1871 Madison, North Carolina, United States) and also to Ellen Frances Hall Merrell (Marriage: about 1866 Davidson, North Carolina, United States) .. but it seems FS can't decide who was the mother of William S Justice (1866-1902) as he is attached as son of both marriages.  FS has him buried in Justice Cemetery, Mars Hill, Madison Co. North Carolina.

.

I'm going to guess Americans will know where the word "County" fits.

Also according to FS: Ellen Frances Hall Merrell Birth 4 May 1848 North Carolina  Death 4 July 1870
Lineage for Frances goes back on her paternal side to 1748 and 1746.

I found a Joshua F Justice (1839-1900) in FAG. This is the inscription on his headstone:

CORP'L J. F. JUSTICE, CO. H, 2ND N.C. MT'D INF. 1839 1900

FAG #  164855150.

His spouse is Ellen Frances Justice (1848-1870).

Ancestry has an 1850 Census, but shows a Joshua Justice born in Virginia, not North Carolina, but the birth year would be correct - 1839.

The Census shows Edmund P as the father and Sally as the mother. One sibling, Raleigh.

Sorry, that is all I can find.
