Davy has a relationship to Daniel Boone on his mom and dad sides.  His dad's side is figured as 11th cousins once removed.  Davy and Daniel share a grandparent, Thomas Stanley KG, as Davy's 11th gg and Daniel's 10th.  It was figured through Daniel's maternal lineage.  I printed this information out from Relationship Finder in August of 2018.  I'm related to both so I thought they would possibly be related also.  I'm new to Wikitree and genealogy so just checking to see all possibilities.  Not sure even where I should post further discussions.  Thanks to all.

Welcome, Shirley!  Relationship Finder says they were 8th cousins twice removed.  Connection Finder gives seven degrees.

yes- Daniel Boone & Davey Crockett share the lineage of the David Lewis- Hawkins / Westons. They are both my 7th & 8th 2x removed cousins ( from Barcafer/ Weston grandparents)

I was intrigued by this, so I looked at the profiles. Daniel Boone’s grandfather’s profile has a big black box that said his parents are speculative and may not be based on sound genealogical research. So, without some research I would, unfortunately, discount this.

Edit

Changed “with” to “without” in the last sentence.

Hello,  As  I mentioned earlier, Davy's maternal and paternal lineage go to Daniel Boone.  Hope everyones' considering both lineages.  (I don't know where I am suppose to post continued questioning.  Thanks for your trouble.)  Can you tell me if everyone is agreeing that they are NOT cousins?  Thanks.  I thought the Relationship Finder was pretty "spot on"..

Their most recent common ancestor is Sir Andrew Brereton born in Brereton, Cheshire, England. Andrew Brereton died in Chester, Cheshire, England in about 1527.

Don't be reluctant to ask more questions.

Nope, they aren't; Edward Morgan, Welsh Quaker of Gwynedd, Pennsylvania is not a son of the Catholic Sir James Morgan, 4th Baronet of Llantarnam (who married his only wife Alice Hopton, widow of Nicholas Jones, in 1695, when Edward Morgan was a grown man with a family already resident in Pennsylvania).

It looks pretty clear that they were not closely related.  If we are looking at a potential common ancestor 8 or 10 generations before their births, I think most of us would call that not related.  I guess it depends on how distant you are going to set the related-not related cut-off.  Personally, I put the cutoff at 3rd cousins.  That means we share a common great-great-grandparent.  I established that personal line of demarcation when I discovered that Princes William and Harry are my 4th cousins. There is no way that I could say that I am related to them because we have one common great-great-great grandparent with a straight-face.  I guess they feel the same, because neither one invited me to their wedding.  :-)

Considering I have living 4th cousins on Wikitree, I would have to respectfully disagree with your cutoff.  cheeky

and I'm not about to give up my relationship to my dear, dear nth cousin Melanie (even though we haven't yet managed to quantify the "n" and it might even be in the teens or maybe more), nor have we identified our MRCA yet, but you can never have too many cousins!

It's that elusive Podperson Gordon, born wedontknowwhere.  He's a direct ancestor of my Wallace the PodGuy Gordon.
Oh, for sure, he's our guy - great work finding him, cuz Melanie - remember the photo I posted of him a couple of times? <grin>

Yes, yes I do.  I have that saved against the eventual day we can create a profile for him and use it for his profile pic.laugh

Based on the analysis of my DNA, I probably have more in common with the Neanderthals than my 4th cousins.  Hmmmm... that might explain some things about me.
