Since taking up the task of acknowledging G2G point milestone achievements on behalf of the Integrators Project, I have had a lot of time in the G2G Users tab (top center of this screen).  If you have never clicked on it, give a look.  Here you will find all of the G2G points for every WikiTree member who has posted a question, an answer, or a comment.

Of course, G2G isn't about points, its about helping other WikiTreers - the points are just a "freebie" and a "thanks."  But if you've ever wondered about the breakdown of G2G members and their contributions, here are some stats:

First, a breakdown of points achievement levels,
(G2G levels):

G2G Astronaut

At the time of this writing, we have only 10 Astronauts and at the top of the pack, Doug Lockwood is a double Astronaut with over 2,400,000 points!  It really is a stellar achievement, kudos to you Doug!

The User pages only track 200 pages of G2G users so I am not sure the total number of overall G2G contributors.

If we look at 200 pages that are showing, at 100 members per page, we have 20,000 tracked contributors.  Of these, about half (about 10,000 members) have about one post or less as their total contributions with an average score of about 300 or 400 G2G points.  This puts Astronauts in the top 5/100ths of 1% of all tracked users!

Around page 99 we see scores begin to climb above 500 - the point at which many members have made a second post or a few answers.  From 20,000 members:
25% made about one post
25% made about two posts
.05% are Astronauts

Looking from the top down, we currently have 18 members who have more than 500,000 points but have not yet hit Astronaut, about .09% of the G2G member population.

Still on the first user page we can see all of the members who are above 200,000 points.  There are 45 members who have over 200,000 points but not yet 500,000, about .225% of the population.

There are 75 pilots with 100,000 or more points but less than 200,000, about .375% of the population.

The total pool of pilots who are not yet Astronauts who have between 100,000 and 999,999 points is 163, about .815% of the population.  Currently the number of pilots is less than 1% of the tracked population.  If we include the Astronauts, only .865% of the population have ever earned their pilots wings!

121 WikiTree members have between 50,000 and 99,999 points, about .6% of the population.  295 members in total have over 50,000 points, about 1.475% of the population.

The top 1% of all tracked WikiTree G2G members point threashold is 83,400 points.  Nelda Spires, you're in the top 1%!

In total, only 903 users have over 10,000 points, about 4.515% of the population.

Edit to add G2G6 stats: There are 1,206 members who havae made G2G6 status, or more than 6,000 G2G points.  G2G6 members  make up 6.03% of the population!

I'll end with the stats here - I hope that you have found something interesting in this post.

I'd like to offer a big "Thank you" to all of the G2G participants who help each other every day and who encourage and praise new and old members alike.  This is truly a unique and wonderful community!

Great post, SJ !!    yes

I'd like to add one more number. There are only 1208 G2G6 members. Very few, taking into account that even WikiTree Guest members has a G2G user account.

Good catch Ruben, should have included G2G6:

at 1,206, G2G6 make up 6.03% of the population!

Thank you, SJ for these stats! Really highlights the G2G usage. Maybe we should somehow encourage members to use this forum more. I think a lot of people may be a bit intimidated about speaking up in the forum.

Very interesting statistics, SJ! Thank you for all the effort you put into this compilation. I thought there were more people in the Pilot category because of the large point spread between Pilot and Astronaut - boy was I wrong!

I agree with Virginia about encouraging members to use the forum more often.

Great job SJ, interesting breakdown.

I also agree with Virginia, encouraging more members to speak up in the G2G would be a good thing. Hopefully posts like this will encourage more folks to get involved with the discussion forum.
