Hi everyone. Odd question and it has me baffled. When I add a photo and it gives you a list to select from, I get Fellenberg

Garrard an Gutte family names and they aren’t in my profile. Does anyone know why they would be there?

Thanks

Tanya

Hi Tanya!  Could you check to see if those profiles are also on your Watchlist? If you are on the Trusted List for those profiles, they will also show up on your Watchlist.  Could you be on the Trusted List by any chance?

I think, but don't know for sure, that your whole Watchlist will populate in that list for selecting profiles to be connected to a photo.

Interesting question!

Yes they are on my watchlist but I didn’t put them there? The person who manages the profiles has the surname of my family in her tree but there is adoption and other factors in there I think from memory. They maybe on her adoptive mother’s side? I am sure they are nothing to do with my lot?

You can remove yourself from being on the Trusted List of any profiles that you don't want to be on. See this section of the Help pages:

 https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Trusted_List_Removals

The person who manages those profiles would have had to be the one who put you on the Trusted List - probably thinking that you might like to see profiles of living family members even if distantly connected, and/or be kept up to date with changes to those profiles such as suggested merges...but our Watchlists can get kinda long, so feel free to drop off the Trusted Lists if you want.
I know for me, that even though no-one on WikiTree 'owns' any profiles, just manages them, whenever i make a profile for someone who is more closely related to another family historian than to me, i feel a little funny about it, and i want to let that other family historian know that i'm not being proprietary about their relative.  In a case like that, and if the other family historian were on WikiTree, i would probably just add the other family historian to the Trusted List to be on the safe side.  That could be what happened and how you ended up on those Trusted Lists.
Yes you are right. I think I was just worrying that this would create errors in the big picture but if not, it’s all good ☺️
