What was the name of Mary (Ball) Washington's half sister?   Was it a step-father or step-mother of Mary Ball?  I need more information if you want help.

From my limited research, Mary (Ball) Washington had one step-sister named Elizabeth and one step-brother, named John.   They were the 2 children of the young widow Mrs. Mary Johnson who married Joseph Ball (Mary Ball's father) after her unknown mother died.  There does not appear to be any other children.  John Johnson died around the same time as his mother, leaving only Mary and Elizabeth.  Mary continued to live with Elizabeth after she married.  There seems to be no PRITCHARD connection, which I am trying to prove.

This just proves how much family "legend" is just that -- a non-proven story handed down generations.   You have confirmed my suspicions, telling me my own research is pretty doggone good!  Happy 4th!

Maybe one of these Ball's married a Pritchard.  This whole idea could be hear-say from a cousin  so I am "fishing" to get to the bottom to prove him wrong or correct.

 

Major James Ball died on Oct. 13, 1754, at the age of 76.  In his will, he left the southern part of his Crooked Run Vally lands in excess of 2,000 acres to his son, Colonel James Ball and 5,000 acres of the land was divided among his daughter Sinah (McCarthy), four grand sons: Jesse Ball, James Ewell, Sr., James Ewell, Jr. and John Selden (?)
