Current manager has approved me to alter name, seems reluctant to do it himself. Also applies to father. In this publication many Cornwalls have Cornwell records as sources. IO want to correct.

edit - added Cornwell and Connecticut tags

WikiTree profile: Jacob Cornwell

Could you be a bit more specific as to the source(s) supporting Cornwell over Cornwall? For example, a citation with link to a FamilySearch image of his baptism showing Cornwell instead of saying "47 of 51 Family Search sources verify name as Cornwell". Thanks!

P.S. You have to be a profile manager to change a profile's LNAB.

did some clicking around on the FS links in the profile... Found what looks like entry of senior's family, noting his death - spelling of Cornwell. FS citation:

Connecticut Marriages, 1640-1939," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-89VP-574F?cc=2448940&wc=Q8RL-B2V%3A1589605372 : 12 May 2016), 007615715 > image 18 of 288; Connecticut State Library, Hartford.

The link that led me there was https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F73P-YWY?from=lynx1UIV8&treeref=LVPD-X86 - then I clicked through to "browse the film". Pages 17 & 18 (out of 288) have Jacob born 1 Oct. 1682 as son of Jacob Cornwell (died 18 April 1708) and Mary White.

I don't think you should change the spelling back, but I do want to point out that the film at family search was a transcription of the original land records book. The transcriptionist states it is a true copy with some exceptions "1. I have not retained, in most cases the antiquated mode of spelling."

The fact that every one of the Cornwell entries is spelled Cornwell would indicate to me that he may have standardized the spelling. Any of us who have looked at originals and "true" transcriptions know that any given name is seldom spelled the same during the 1600s.
