Man in a suit case: Richard J Stevens, jr

I purchased a beat up suit case at auction.  Inside was a lot of photos of parents, wife, and grandparents.  Letters, invitations to weddings, and military documents.  Born 25 Aug 1928 and married in Detroit, MI to Betty Jane Bookwalter, 18 Feb 1953.  He is not one of my relatives and I would really hate to get rid of all the photos....would rather send to a relative.  So I'm posting in hopes of finding someone.

I found one tree on ancestry with him listed, run by a person named Russell Stevens.  That person's last login was in may of this year, so they appear to be still active.   I took the liberty of sending a copy of your message on to Russell, to see if he is interested.  If you have an email address, I can forward on to this Russell, I can do so.

Thanks.  If it is the right person, I would rather have a message sent through WikiTree.

For the record, here is the specific ancestry profile of the member.  Not sure if you'll be able to see it.

and here is the message I sent him.

Hello,
I have a question, you have on your online tree one Richard Stevens, who was born in 1928 and married to Betty Bookwalter. Are you related to him? The reason I ask is I am a member of the genealogy site wikitree and someone there has posted a message about having some of his belongings.

The message is by a wikitree member named Rena Donze and is as follows.

if you are interested, send me your email address and I'll forward it on to this person. Otherwise you will find the post in the G2G forum of Wikitree. I'll see if I can get their address to send to you.

Craig,

Russell appears to be the home person and the son of the couple mentioned. I am certain he will be thrilled to have this treasure. Thanks for contacting him. Perhaps you can send him a direct link to this thread if you have not already done so.
Thank you everyone!!  I sent a message directly to Russell Stevens.  This is wonderful stuff and great help.
I am not a relative.  This was just an accidental purchase of an old suitcase.
I am sorry to say that Richard never answered the email.  So could the email be texted to me again and what is his full name?  I will keep the items until I find someone.

What a wonderful find!  I looked and didn't see a profile for him on Wikitree.  It would be fun to build out a profile with actual, contemporary original information (wedding invites include dates, etc.)
