now that I'm thru comparing, refreshing matches, etc., how do I add the new people. I think an "add button" is supposed to show up somewhere.

The easiest way is to edit someone you already have and add a spouse, sibling, parent, or child on the right hand side.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Person_Profile tells you how to do it both ways. Linked and from scratch.

Patricia, if your "add button" has not yet appeared, you still have one or more matches to accept or reject. If I remember correctly, there's a counter at the top of your GEDCOMpare report that tells you how many you have left. You won't get the "add buttons" until every single match is dealt with. I know it's hard to see what you may have missed, especially if you imported a large GEDCOM. Best wishes as you proceed!

Patricia, unfortunately you won't see any ADD buttons in GEDCOMpare until you have "matched" or "rejected" every single "Suggested Match" that the system has offered to you.  And please don't touch the "REFRESH SUGGESTED MATCHES" button at the bottom of the screen any more. Every time you hit that button, the system will dig up additional suggested matches for some of those people in your file who have common names. You don't need to hit that button to update the data in your GEDCOMpare -- that happens automatically.

Do go back and mark those suggested matches as "match" or "reject" and you'll start seeing ADD buttons.

Further note: That checkbox at the beginning of a row that you can use to indicate that you have "completed" the row is basically there for your benefit in tracking your work. It doesn't eliminate the need to match or reject suggested matches for the row, nor does it affect the processing of the GEDCOMpare file.
