Question

Would you like to start a Name Study for a surname in 2019?  Sign up below (answer, don't comment) and Ros will create the page for you and add you as the manager.  If you do not already have it, you will be awarded the One Name Studies Project Member badge.

The three requirements are: 
1) You have been on WikiTree for 30 days 
2) You have signed the Honor Code 
3) You have made 100 or more contributions (not just G2G points)

Please note when requesting redirects to variants: There can only be three spellings of the surname per Study, and one of them must be the name itself (such as Haywood, Heywood, and Haywud for the Haywood Name Study).  This limit is posed due to limitations of the creation form plus lack of manpower.

I would like to have a project for the name Mewborn.  Is this an answer? Seems totally counter-intuitive to me.

Above it says hit 'ANSWER'. not 'comment' nor 'reply'.  What does that mean?  There are no buttons with any of those labels.  I suppose 'Add answer' is close to the first so I'll try that

Incidentally, I have read the help on badges. I seems good on principles but lacks exact detail on how and where to attach them. Is there an idiots guide?

A red flag is only given if the comment is rude, inappropriate, or spam.  Some people mistakenly think of it as the Facebook 'like' (thumbs-up) which it most definitely is not. It notifies the moderators that 'here is something really really bad'.

The green boxes next to the questions/answers are for upvotes and downvotes.  They are there if you heartily approve of what has been said.  I would avoid downvoting because it hurts your G2G record as well as theirs.

Badges are a one-off, awarded by a Leader, and only attach to your own profile.

Stickers - such as {{One Name Study|name=Mewborn}} - can be put on any profile you are including in your Study.  Try it out.

I was hoping to limit my study geographically to just Australia/New Zealand & Switzerland for the moment. That is quite a handful when you add in marriage partners and their parents.

There are Iseppis in Italy, France, England, north Africa, North America, South America, Austria, Germany and Ukraine that I’ve seen so far.

If the requirement is to be broad for “One Name Study”, then I’ll accept it. I was hoping to limit it so I didn’t get overwhelmed.

You can still study Iseppis in Australia/New Zealand and Switzerland; however, if someone turns up who wants to study Iseppis in Italy (for instance), you need to welcome them into the main Name Study.
