Challenge of the week: Improve orphaned profiles [closed]

Hi WikiTreers,

Will you join our "Data Doctors" Challenge of the week?

Once again, Aleš has come up with something to help us work together on a category of profiles that need our help. This time it's "orphans," i.e. profiles without Profile Managers.

Here is the list of orphaned profiles that could use some TLC.

Will you join us?

Every time you record a status update it will earn you a point. The member with the most points at 11:59pm EDT on Sunday night will get the Winner badge this week and the bragging rights. But we'll all benefit from a neater, cleaner shared tree.

Is the stats link broken? I couldn't get it to update all morning, and now I can't even open it.

Your DBE 579 Find A Grave - Missing birth location - is suggesting "USA/United States" for dates prior to 1776.  It's picking up and showing in Info on Status page. Those who are new might not catch this and will generate more errors upon already listed errors.

It is not suggesting, it is just displaying what is entered on FindAGrave. Users should know this things from other WikiTree documentation.

For the past couple of hours I have been participating in this challenge choosing orphans directly from the table. Yet my name is NOT appearing in the Challenge tracker as usual ... even though that list has grown with other names. Can this please be check out ? Thanks

I had a time slot open to work on orphaned profiles but the tracker has been down for the past 2 hours, so I will move on to something else.

The only ones I adopt unless I am very sure they are my line are the ones that we can only correct them by adopting them first.

Please clarify what you want done with the orphaned profiles....someone said if you adopt, you don't get a point...and I don't really care about the points....I don't really want to adopt at this time, but if I source it, that helps the tree....correct?? Is that what's expected??

Yes, that is correct. You do not have to adopt them.

Source them, fix dates, ...what ever you can do to improve the global tree.

if the dates are current dates, born less than 150 years, the profile will lock with no PM, so watch for that.

I would like to participate. Are they separated out by country? I can work on sourcing Swedish orphaned profiles.

In the Swedish unsourced profiles list, I am not seeing any of the usual buttons that allow me to change the status of errors. I only just realized that I have been working on sourcing and improving Swedish orphans for this Thon and I have been unable to mark them completed. How do I get to the report that includes the right column for setting the status of the error?
