Requesting Help Translating Spanish 1839 Church Record, Taos

Question

I am not bi-lingual. I would sincerely appreciate help translating an 1839 Church Record from Taos. It is the burial record of Juana Micaela Salazar, the wife of my ancestor Damian Archuleta.  The record can be found in the Family Search Catalog, Taos Church Records 1701-1926 on page 277 of 739. If you cannot find it I can try to help you with the instructions sent to me earlier on G2G, or send pictures-jpeg to you.

I hope this translation is understandable

In this "curato" (Parrish?) of Taos on the 1st. day of the month of July of the year 1839. I, the priest "D[on]"  (Title. Similar to Mr.) Antonio José Martinez buried the body of the deceased Juana Micaela Salasar in the cemetery of the chapel of "Nuestra Señora de los Dolores" (Our Lady of the Pains), the widow of the deceased Damian Archuleta : to the deceased, I gave, to help in her illness, the saint sacraments of penance and extreme unction, she had nothing to make a will, she left four living children and to certify I signed

WOW.... thank you so much!! I greatly appreciate that you took the time to do this.  I will assume that your translation is right on the mark.  It is tough to not have any sense/clue about the Spanish language, when so many of the records of my Archuleta/Romero ancestors in NM are in Spanish.

"Nuestra Señora de los Dolores" is "Our Lady of Sorrows" in English.  Spanish differentiates between "penas" (with tilde, physical pain) and "dolores" (mental pain, anguish).  So you may be looking for the cemetery of a chapel with that name in English now.

I hope you know that you can always get a basic translation using Google's translate function.  That way you don't have to wait for someone else to type it up.  Ask if you don't know how to do this.

Add my thanks for your response to Rubén's.  I had a feeling that it might be Our Lady Of Sorrows because I have researched genealogy records of my Archuleta & Romero ancestors at that exact church... including the baptism record of my great-grandfather German (Jose Germano Archuleta) in 1869.  Because I don't know Spanish however, it was not my 'place' to question Ruben's translation.  My sincere thanks and gratitude to both of you!

THANK YOU for looking into this.... my assumption (never good in genealogy) was that Our Lady Of Sorrows was in Taos "proper".  When you access a genealogy record, it almost always has the church in Taos, Taos County.  I will look into the church actually being in Rio Arriba.
