1) Not a .ged format.

2) Too big (5,000 names is, I think, the limit).

3) You have not completed the compare process.

I'm one of those who hates GEDCOMs (ugly, difficult to fix, generally not well researched), so if one of these is not your problem you'll have to wait for an expert volunteer to help.

Have you tried this?  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:GEDCOM

In addition, I suggest going to the Search G2G box above and searching for GEDCOM, you will find lots of folks asking and answering questions and it could help.

And Welcome to WikiTree

You should also review the GEDCOMpare help page.

Take particular note of this statement:

GEDCOMs are not imported into WikiTree.

With GEDCOMpare, you compare your GEDCOM profiles to existing WikiTree profiles. For existing profiles, you can import the data from your GEDCOM into the existing profiles as you work through the GEDCOMpare process.

But if no matching profile currently exists, you must wait until you've completed the comparison process for ALL the profiles in your GEDCOM before you can create any new profiles.

I may have missed some finer points, but basically you will be creating any new profiles one at a time, not en masse (which is probably what you expected to happen).
