Does anyone have any information on parentage of Matilda Mayes, born Birmingham between 1866 and 1869.- census information has differing ages

Matilda was admitted to Gem Street Industrial School for unruly children, Birmingham aged 3.  She's listed on the 1871 census along with all the other children.  She was later moved to major Lesters Girls Home in Lancashire and left when she reached 16

Any details 16yrs and below, including her parents gratefully received.

Like the person who answered this, the nearest I could find was a birth registration for a Matilda Masey in 1867 with mother's maiden name Sneath.
