There are two types of people:  those who are Italian and those who wish they were.

Ciao!

Would you like to join our Italy Project?

You don't have to have roots in a specific region or even have Italian roots to join the project. If you have a love for Italy and want to learn more while lending a helping hand, please join us.

The only requirements are that you:

  • Are a WikiTree member holding the WikiTree Genealogist badge;

  • Have signed the WikiTree Honor Code; and

  • Have the Pre-1700 Certification badge

All you have to do is click ANSWER and we will get your badge.

Check out the Italy Project page and our New Italian Roots Structure page.

Here are just a few topics in the project which may interest you:

  1. Regions of Italy (Sicily, Calabria, Campania, etc.)

  2. Notables (Nicola Machiavelli, Fiorella LaGuardia, etc.)

  3. Italian Diaspora (Italian migration around the world)

Many thanks for joining and let’s have some fun!

Hi there, Im Jen from Australia and my maternal grandmother was from Andria, Bari.  I've traced back to a couple of generations and am extremely interested to find out just how far back my grandmothers lineage goes in the Puglia region.  I know I have second cousins currently living in Rome. My grandmother had 8 brothers and only one of them moved to Australia, the rest stayed behind.  Id love to work on a regional project like Puglia.

I've done the answers for the pre-1700s but I think I have to wait a week or something like that.

I'd like to join please.  I have Italian roots from Northern Italy - Castelvecchio Pascoli, Lucca, Toscana, Italy.  My grandfather was named Amedeo Leodegar Conti b. 1908 in London, England.  My father was also born a Conti.  However, because they were living in London, England during WWII and the Italians were the enemy of the English, the surname was changed to Conway around 1943.

My great grandfather was Umberto Conti b. 1881 who was born in Castelvecchio Pascoli, Lucca, Toscana, Italy.  He died in Peoria, Illinois, USA 1932  [Conti-275]

Having Italian Roots myself, I'd like to see what I can do to help contribute to this project and, maybe, obtain assistance as part of the team.

I've read some information regarding the membership and it looks good to me. Please let me know if you require any further information and such for joining.

Thanks a Bunch! :-)

With my Maternal Grandfather's side of the family being from Sicilia, Italy, I was hoping to be able to join as a member of the "Italy Project".

I believe that I've already met the prerequisites, but please let me know if you require anything further to join.

Thank you very much for your time and understanding with this! :-D

Oh! It looks like you're already IN the project. Carry on! Would you like to join any regional sub groups like Sicily?
When I took a quick look, I didn't see the Badge on my profile that made me wonder if I had officially joined the project.

Regarding the Sicily sub group, I've got no problem with joining it.

I do appreciate your prompt response! :D

~Brian Kerr
Also, the following WikiTree project link reflects the "Italian Roots Project Google Group" that I couldn't reach.

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Italy

Can I please be added to the Google Group?

Thank you! :-P

~Brian Kerr
Dad... I know that you had mentioned the issue with the Google Group for the Italy Project, but the badge is there on your profile page.

I say this with love you dad... if you don't see it then you must be getting old fast. LOL!

"Shady Pines" Dad... :-P
I will do what I can about the Google group. Thanks, Brian. =D

Come on, Mac. Don't send him to Shady Pines. (Yet.)

This project seems quiet!  I'd like to join though - I've been doing a major research project in our surrounding villages, and have many new people to work on in a project!

Ciao, I would love to join the Italy project. Both of my maternal grandmother's parents were first generation Italian-Americans born to Sicilian immigrants from Poggioreale.

I became an Italian citizen in 2017 through my trisnonno and had to do a lot of certifiable research, gathering documents from both the United States and Poggioreale. I also had to learn some of the Italian language to request the records from Italy and I have continued studying the language.

É magnifico essere qui! Grazie!

Hi!  I am completely new....have no idea about anything on WikiTree.  But, I am 75% Sicilian and 25% Napolitan.  Names from Sicily are:  Valenza, Arnone, Lombardo, Ardesia, DiGiuseppe, Buttaci and DiGregorio (all aforementioned are from Caltanesetta).  The other Sicilian names are:  Rizzo, Marzullo, Vitello, DiGregoria, Attanasio and Gallo (all from Agrigento region).  The Napolitans are:  Davide, Romano, Arcicioli/Urcioli.

I don't know what the badges are.

I did find that the Marzullos/Vitellos has the name DON given to them as a title in the early 1800s but I cannot find out why.

Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

I'm very interested in Italy because my husband and his family came to Canada in 1967 from Milan although they were born in Abruzzi. Italy is almost impossible to research because hardly any records are on Family Search or Ancestry. So I need all the help I can get.

Hi. It would be very helpful to us if you were logged into the site so you can join the project. Please do so so we can add you.

Thanks!

Hi, I am Jenna and, new to WikiTree, I don't a Pre-1700 badge yet, but I am a Historical Fiction Writer (with degrees in Italian History and Art focusing on the Early Modern period (Roman Baroque to be exact). Also, I have Italian ancestors and I'd love to join.

I am doing research on a 17th century woman named Costanza Piccolomini and Would like to use this site to combine all of the sources I have found to find her mother and father. I have my own family tree and just do not have the time to enter it here yet.
