Need to confirm the parents of Catharine Melissa Litz, b 1883, Bowers, Kent County, DE, Her marriage license names two people who don't seem exist, but I have lots of DNA matches to suggest she was from another set of parents. Really need a birth certificate. Tried to find her with either family in a census but the critical one is 1890 which was destroyed. By 1890 she was working as live-in help with a different family.

Dear Jan,

There is a Howard Louis Litz born Bowers, DE in 1879.  His "nearest relative" is Mrs. Catharine Litz when he registers for the WWI draft.  Maybe a brother or half-brother?

"United States World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918," database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KZFL-RQK : 13 March 2018), Howard Louis Litz, 1917-1918; citing Kent County, Delaware, United States, NARA microfilm publication M1509 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.); FHL microfilm 1,570,621.

Also, maybe a focus for your DNA matches in his descendants?  Good luck. -NGP

Thanks for your reply. I found that registration card but discounted it because "my" Catharine died (we think) in 1913.  There is a Howard Litz who is the son of the other family in question. Most transcriptions show him as Howard S Litz. I've studied the census docs and it's really hard to tell the "S" from and "L". I'm working my way through the descendants but no luck as yet. Thanks for helping - it's much appreciated.

Thanks for your reply. The Jacob Litz I need would have had a wife named Ida. I swear this couple only exists on two marriage documents for Catharine and it's really messing me up!
This is the 2nd set of parents, and the ones I'm trying to prove belong to "my" Catharine. In 1900 Catharine is working on the George Billings farm so doesn't appear in a census with any parents. (She was born in 1883 and the 1890 census was destroyed by fire.)  The Anna M Litz in this family was born Morgan. Any relation???? There are no parents names on her death certificate so I'm really up a tree trying to find any good documentation. Thanks for your help.
