Permission to connect to a family tree - do we have to wait for the controller to check in?

I'm knew to this wiki, so sorry  if I've missed an notification or explanation.

I'm related to Johann Wendel Frushour, and want to hook up  my family tree to him.  I've input all the generations back, but it won't let me connect up without permission from the person in charge of that profile.  Will I have to wait unitl that person check back in online?

Secondly, my mother is Katherine Evalena Meyer, and there's a Katherine Meyer already on this wiki, but with no info I can see to match her to my own mother.  I'm kind of stuck on my ENTIRE mom's line until this gets sorted out or I risk making a duplicate entry.

So at this point I just have to sit and wait for responses from the people controlling those names?  I mean it's fine if that's the case, I just to make sure I'm not missing something.

Unfortunately, you have to wait for the profile manager to agree to the merge. There are additional steps you can take when you come across an unresponsive profile manager.

Have you done a search for Katherine's parents? If they aren't there, the second Katherine probably isn't a match. Otherwise, you could contact the manager to compare data and he/she can let you know if there's a match. If there isn't enough data, often you simply have to go on building your tree, especially when you have a name like William Smith or John Jones in your family. That's why it's so important to put dates on all profiles, even if they are estimated dates. It helps a great deal in matching profiles.
