I was adding a profile of a probably living person today

and eventually came to a list of li in eoplewhom she might conceivably have been. All those had me as profile manager and each invited me to make a comparison with “Living person” without noticing I was pm. For each and without suggesting their real names (which would have been very helpful). I was then encouraged to write to myself to enquire about these potential matches without having the iD numbers to ask myself  about. I don’t see any reason not to disclose the full names to the person adding the profile, where that person is also p.m. of the potential matches. It would make life much simpler.

are you talking about the list that pops up when creating a profile for possible matches?  That function is computer generated, and doesn't care who is manager.  All one has to do is click the box on the left beside each to create a rejected match.
My points were that I can’t tel” whether or not they are matches and therefore don’t know whether they are rejectsandthe computernot caring who the p.m. is can and should be reprogrammed"
ah yes, that is a problem with unlisted profiles, the computer should not be suggesting them at all in my view, they are supposedly still living so can't be seen by any but PMs.

Here are some other possibilities that might help you, Sir William: Before I create a new profile on WikiTree I always do a search first, from the Search link under the 'Find' drop-down list at the top right of each profile, to see if there's already a profile for the person. Or, if I think there's a chance I've already created a profile for the person, I search in the "Name on Watchlist" box near the very top of each profile. It's very helpful in finding profiles in my own watch list.
