Are profile [[links]] created in biographies updated if the linked profile name changes due to a merge?

For example: I list children names as links in the parents biographies, if a childs profile is merged with another, will the link shown in parent bio still be valid?

Yes,  usually.

Sometimes there is a snag.  Usually, one bio is added under the other.  That is one of the reasons it  is important to clean up after the merge.

When a profile is merged into another, it's ID becomes a redirect to the profile it was merged into. So yes, links will still work.

You may want to update them as you notice redirecting links, though. I think linking directly to the final profile is better for Google rankings than redirected links. Nothing you need to worry a lot about, but if you happen to be editing a profile anyway it might be worth updating the links.
