I am 23 degrees from Jim.   BUT... I thought to check our relationship David and we are 23rd cousins (using the Search 30 generations) through my mother and your father.

We are 8th cousins through our g+ grandfather Jacob Decker.

See now I come down through Jacob's brother Hermanus Decker Caryl - lets see he is my fifth great grandfather

I am glad to know that we are cousins Navarro.  I am fascinated by the lives of our New Amsterdam ancestors.  I just checked our relationship and we connect through Swartwout, Albert, Decker, Westercamp, Hans, Volckertszen and more!  This is on both my maternal and paternal lines. :)

Well heck we may be double or triple cousins then!  I know are they not so interesting and we are so luck to be able to find out so much about their lives from the records - it is just too fun -

Hello family tree relative! haha I'm showing for your name the following information. Finally starting to see more people I'm related to from my father's side. For a while I was only seeing from my mother's side.

Caryl (Short) Ruckert and Jennifer Holland are both descendants of Adriaen Meertens de Jongh.

This makes Adriaen Meertens the ninth great grandfather of Caryl.

This makes Adriaen Meertens the 12th great grandfather of Jennifer.

Caryl and Jennifer are 10th cousins three times removed

Hello cousin Jennifer.  Nice to meet another "Dutch" cousin.
*waves* From Moore, Oklahoma, USA! :-) Nice to meet you as well!

I wasn’t even close
Just to compare apples to apples, you are still 19 degrees away in WikiTree.

You have to count steps up and down for a "degree" if you go by cousin relationship (although you get to skip one degree by going across the sibling relationship at the top, the way WikiTree counts it).
You're right Nathan. I used the Relationship finder.

Close! My mother is precisely his 10th cousin through common descent from none other than Elder Nathaniel Tilden, and my father is 20 degrees away through a connection via his brother-in-law to the Dimick family.

So I am 21 known degrees away on both sides, several ways.
