There are a few Ancestry Trees that have his parents as Peter Crawford b. 1754 North Carolina; d. about 1808 Laurens, South Carolina.  And Elizabeth Coates 1763-abt 1808. Marriage record 25 Feb 1782 but no county given. South Carolina did not keep marriage records until early 1900's so this record might be from a church record or some other family source in print. The above information is a place to start with research to prove or disprove these parents.

Good luck - I hope this helps.
