Is there a way to shorten a very long URL so that it fits on the profile page? [closed]

When I see the URL used in the source that hangs out over the profile section, it drives me nuts.

Does it look better now? I removed a carriage return after the word "Notice" which messed up the formatting.

Absolutely!  Thanks!  I'll have to remember that one.
Good job, Leif.
Just saw this and would have answered but it got slammed shut. 2 really good ways exist. Use shorteners like, or [[ridiculously_long_url_with_no_spaces name for URL]]
Tinyurl and other similar services are good for sharing on Twitter etc. but for several reasons shouldn't be used for documentational purposes. They're not transparent, ie the URL doesn't tell you anything about where it will take you, and secondly, you never know how permanent they are. Thus, they add another level of uncertainty to an already fragile reference system.

The second method (albeit with single braces) was the one used here, but a spurious newline in the "name for URL" part messed it up, as said.
