Can people with different LNAB's be merged?

I received a merger request from S Stevenson to merge Hannah-172 and Pratt-6380.  In the first profile, someone gave Hannah, the last name Hannah because they couldn't find the LNAB for Hannah Orcutt.  I adopted Hannah Pratt Orcutt recently just because I have a lot of Pratts in my line.  I finshed the profile yesterday and this morning I got the merger request.,  The profiles are close but not exact in dates and places, but they both did marry Mr.Orcutt at about the same time and place.  However, would we not have to change the LNAB of Hannah-172 before a merger could take place?

Merge into the correct LNAB, regardless of the digits.  All you need to do.

It would normally merge into the lower number, right?  I didn't make the request.  Is there some place I can check the proposed direction of the merge?. I already asked the question on the profile page, but no answer as of yet. The Hannah Hannah profile is listed as orphaned.
It merges to the lower number when the LNABs have identical spelling.  Otherwise, you tell it which one to use by choosing the 'into' profile.  Regardless of how it was proposed, you make the final decision when you complete the merge (there's a button to reverse the order if you need it).
Thanks.  Good to know.
Peggy, that works when YOU are the person completing the merge.  The way to make that happen is to see that the other profile has already been approved by the other manager.  That way, when you approve it, the merge will happen right then and there and you'll be the one to make final selection of the resulting profile after merging.

If the other profile is orphaned, then you can start by adopting it.  Then when you approve the merge for both profiles, you KNOW you will be the one completing the merge.

Thanks for the star, Rubén!  smiley

A few of us are cleaning up a gedcom import, see G2G pasted below.

MANY of the female spouse profiles came in as First and Preferred name = Unknown and their first name in the LNAB field.  Many are duplicates. So I have been suggesting (or doing) merges to correct all of these.  I have the Unknown Betsey's and Unknown Sarah's down to a manageable level, still have 8 Unknown Nancy's and 6 Unknown Rebecca's (and many more) to go.  And these are just the unconnected profiles.
